Volume 1, Issue 74 NEWSLETTER July, August, September 2014 ROSARY HILL HOME 9000 WEST 81 ST STREET – JUSTICE, ILLINOIS 60458 708.458.3040 Dear Friends of Rosary Hill, At this time we are observing the loss of trust in the Catholic Church and the loss of respect. The Church seems to have lost its moral capital. Our media mercilessly and relentlessly parade the sins of the Church before the public. The mainstream magazines, newspapers and TV news networks make the scandals daily headlines and the subjects of sarcastic commentaries. The sins of the priests and the “corruption” of the Vatican have become the topic of TV talk shows and everyday material for entertainment producers. The once-enjoyed by the Church respect has evaporated. The Catholic priests, tainted by the sins of their brothers, feel the stares and suspicions of others. Lay Catholics are disheartened, angry, and weary of the daily exposes to bad news. Everything about the Church seems in disarray. It seems, that the Church is in decline. In our country and many other predominantly Catholic countries there is a critical shortage of priests. The number of nuns has dropped in half. Parishes are closing or merging everywhere. Some Catholic universities and colleges embrace the opposite to Church’s teaching and very liberal views on many social, and moral issues. Whatever the reality, all this is unfortunately the church of the headlines, and the anti-Catholic campaign. But we need to remember, far more of the picture than that. There is another face of the Church. There is the grass-root Church that does far more good in the world than it ever gets credit for. There is the Church that operates superb schools, which provide needy children an escalator out of poverty. There is the Church of priests and nuns and lay people in the third-world countries toiling in obscurity to feed the hungry, care for the sick and the homeless. There is the Church that reaches to the needy through Catholic Charity, Food for the Poor, soup kitchens, St. Vincent de Paul societies, orphanages, nursing homes, and many other forms and organizations of charity. So when we read about scandals, we need to look intensely to see what is different than painted by media, sublime – even divine – face of the Catholic Church, made of those behind scene workers whose magnificence lies not in their titles or vestments, but their selfless love. This is the true face of the Church. As I write these words I think of you, Dear Friends, because you are the very lively, active ingredient of this world-wide community of Christ followers – his Church. Working with you on this tiny sliver of Christ’s Church, we call Rosary Hill Home, is for us the always refreshing inspiration and a great privilege. And we thank God for you, for your trust, assistance, interest in our ministry and your truly Christian love. In this time of bad press, we need to continue our noble work so that people may be aware that the Jesus of the very ordinary needy and hungry for love people, lives among us. We are to be his voice and his gentle and healing touch. When people are in distress or despair, or in need of truth and love, we are to be the face, voice and hand of Christ. It is our calling. Fromthedesk of our Chaplain

“A Wise and Fruitful Woman” When the Virgin Mary said yes to the Archangel Gabriel, she made a prudent and productive choice. As our spiritual Mother, Mary enables us to make wise and fruitful decisions in our lives. She exhorts us not to be lazy, which is the result of living a wordly and comfortable style of life. We can become absorbed and contented with material possessions. Our Blessed Mother helps us to grow as human beings and in faith and to live responsibly as children of God. She desires us to grow and become wiser and holier each day. Like a good Mother, Mary is always close to us. She helps us never to lose courage in all the difficulties and problems of our life. Let us imitate the faithfulness and wisdom of Mary, she will assist us to lead holy and productive lives.

Father Raymond Jasinski *************************************************************************Words of Wisdom A Moment for You… Sometimes the best thing you can do for yourself is…stop! Stop worrying. Stop stressing. Stop dwelling on what you need to get done. A day is so much more than a series of chores. It’s an ever-changing mix of possibilities waiting to be experienced and explored. Life is amazing, and so are you! Wisdom belongs to the aged, and understanding to the old. Job 12:12
