Installation
This manual will guide you through the process of installing Mantaray successfully in your organization.
There are two types of installations possible:
• Single Client Installation
Mantaray is installed on each computer separately. There will be no automatic update possible for
client computers.
However, the database can be shared on a network server.
• Network Structure Installation
Mantaray is installed on a deployment server in order to dispatch client computer and in order to keep
the client computers updated.
The database is located on the same deployment server or on a separated database server.
Depending on the size of the company complex confirgurations can be made in order to ensure data security
and integrity.
For large databases it is recommender to separate the installation over several servers:
• Deployment Server: Ensures the same client versions are used.
• Database server: A separated server to ensure high performances.
• Knowledge Base Server: A separated server that contains the knowledge base documents accessed by
the database.

License Key Installation
At purchase time, a serial number was send to you by Email.
This license key ensures that your copy of Mantaray is valid and that you have access to future updates and
customer support.
When starting Mantaray for the first time the number will be needed in the activation screen. Make also shure
that your computer is connected to the internet.
The license number can be found on the bottom section of the login screen.

Start Mantaray by selecting the Mantaray icon located in the start menu, the following window will be
displayed:
Figure 1 Login Window
When it is the first time that you launch Mantaray you will have to perform a series of tasks to create a
database with the basic parameters for you company.
The first task is to create the database that will contain your company’s data.
Select the “Admin” button from the login screen, the Mantaray Control Center will be opened:

Select the button, this will invoke the Data manager window.
Using this window you can create databases that match Mantaray’s structure.
Select the “New” button and enter an entity name for your database e.g. MyDataBase. Enter the complete
directory path to the location where you want to store your database.

You database can be stored locally on your computer, but in an multi-user environment you will need to create
the database on a shared network drive.
When all information has been entered select the “Save” button, now select “Create Database”.

The database structure will now be created.
Once the database has been created the system will prompt you the following:
Select <Yes> if this is a new database. This procedure will created the default security settings and one
Administrator log-in Id.
When the primary data has been created the system will prompt you the following:

Select <Yes> if you wish that Mantaray will be started with a default product structure and basic data, like
currency codes, is pre-loaded.
Select <No> if you will start entering all the data manually.
When finished, the login screen is displayed.
Enter “Admin” as user id and “admin” as password.

Knowledge Base Configuration
Mantaray uses a directory structure in order to store scanned and imported documents.
For performance reasons it is recommender to configure the knowledge base onto a separated server.
The system control file window is used to configure the location of the knowledge base and the knowledge
base versioning archive.
This configuration program is located in the "Managers Function" tree
of the ERP menu.
Enter the root directory of the knowledge base and the directory where the version archives will be located.
Note: The root and archive directory may be located across several servers.

Importing Data

Importing Data
Mantaray has a feature that allows you the import data from other applications into the data base.
In this chapter we will explain how to prepare the data files and how to load them into the database.
Prepare the data files
In order to load the data into Mantaray the data must be organized into “.CSV” files. In “.CSV” or “Comma
Separated Values” files the information is organized in columns that are separated by Commas or semi-colons.
Mantaray can read files separated by semi-colons.
If you export information from another application you must select the delimited export function and specify
that semi-colons must be used as separator.
To create new “CSV” files you can use a text editor or a spreadsheet like Microsoft Excell TM and same the
information by selecting “save as csv”.
The created file must be stored in the “Transfer” directory located in the database directory.
Example: Postal codes file with 1 column for the postal code, one column for the city description and one
column for the country code.
The file is called “Postalcodes.csv”.
1000;Brussels;BEL
3000;Antwerp;BEL
9000;Ghent;BEL
Interface Definitions
Once the data files are created they must be imported into Mantaray.
In order to import the data, you have to define where the information is located in the “CSV” files. Open the
“Interface Maintenance” window, located in the following menu path: System Administration, User Interface,
Interfaces, Specifications.
This window is used to specify which system table will be updated and which of the columns contains the key
field.
Example: Postal Codes.
Select the system table “Zip” which will contain the postal codes and “Zip” which is the Key-field for that table.
In our definition of the file we’ve placed the key-field in the first position, sequence is then 1.
Set the interface mode to “Replace Data”, this means that the new data will be added and existing data will be
replaced.
The filename is “Postalcodes.csv”.

Figure 6 Interface Maintenance
The interface main information is now created, select the <DETAILS> button to define the data fields and select
<NEW>.
The following window is now displayed:

Enter for each column in the “CSV”-file and entry in this window and specify the system fieldname and position
in the “CSV”-file.
For our example you should have this result:
Figure 8 Interface Details Browse
The layout of the “CSV”-file is now defined.
We will specify now the order in which the files have to be read.
Open the “Interface Batch Maintenance” window located in the following menu path: System Administration,
User Interface, Interfaces, Batch.
With this window we can specify the interfaces that have to be load and in which order they have to be
loaded.

For our example we have only one file to load. In the “Interface Batch” window specify “Codes” as the batch
name, select the <DETAILS> button and select the <NEW> button on the browse window.
Figure 10 Interface Batch Detail Maintenance
Select the “Postal Codes” interface and set the sequence to 1. The interface is now completely defined and is
ready to run.

Select the <READ FILE> button on the interface batch window, the file is now imported into the “ZIP” system
table.

The Manta Ray
The largest member of the ray family, the manta looks like a giant bat. It has been known to leap out of the water,
occasionally destroying small fishing boats.
The manta ray is found both inshore and offshore in the warmer oceans. Although mantas can be found on the seabed, they
spend much of their time feeding near the ocean's surface. Large species of ray, such as the manta, tend to be solitary,
although they are often accompanied by a shoal of pilot fish. While feeding, small and medium-sized species of ray may form
shoals.
Manta rays bear live young. The single fertilized egg develops inside the mother. The gestation period is unknown. It
appears that mantas do not breed until their wing like pectoral fins reach a length of 13-15 feet. There is no specific breeding
season: males and females mate year round. The newborns are fairly large, weighing 20-30 pounds, have fins that span 4
feet, and can generally protect themselves from predators.
Manta rays feed mainly on shrimp and plankton, although they will occasionally eat small fish such as mullet. The manta's
gill arches help it to feed by operating as a filtration system. During respiration, water is sucked in through the mouth and
pumped out through the gill slits. The plankton that is sucked into the manta's mouth along with the water is caught by the gill
arches and siphoned into its stomach. When mantas encounter a shoal of fish, they quickly move in to feed, swallowing as
many fish as they can.
The manta ray has long been regarded by fishermen as dangerous. Stories of mantas killing scuba divers and deliberately
jumping onto small boats are numerous, but unsubstantiated. However, the manta's habit of circling small boats can be
frightening to those aboard. And, although mantas do occasionally jump onto boats, the damage they cause is thought to be
accidental. In the process of leaping out of the water, done possibly as an aid in giving birth or for sport, manta rays have
wrecked small boats, earning them the name devilish.
