Section1:GeneralRules(allsports)

A)PersonalandTeamConduct

1. Participantsarerequiredtorepresentthemselvesandtheirrespectiveschoolswithrespectanddignity.

2. AnyteamorindividualinvolvedindestructiveornegativebehavioratPost-SecondaryGames2011eventsorvenues,includinghotelsand

accommodations,willbeejectedfromthetournamentatthediscretionof

theAdvisoryCommittee.SpiritDepositsmayalsobeforfeited.

3. ThePSGCommitteereservestherighttodisqualifyanyteambasedonthebehaviorofanygiventeammemberofthatparticularteam.

4. Alcohol,smokingand/orotherbannedsubstancesarePROHIBITEDandarenottobeconsumedorusedinthedressingroomsoranywhereinthe

gymsorsurroundingareas.Failuretocomplywiththisrulewillresultintheexpulsionoftheplayer(s)fromtheTournamentandpossible

suspensionoftheteam(s).Arefereemayejectaplayer/teamif,athis/her

discretion,he/shedeemstheplayer/teamtobeundertheinfluenceof

alcoholorillegalsubstances.

B)StartingoftheGame

1. Arepresentativefromeachteam(coach/captain)isrequiredtocheck-inatthescoretablepriortoeachgame.Heretheymustfilloutgameroster

sheetsfullyandaccurately.

2. Itisrecommendedthatbothteamsbedressedandreadytoplay10minutesbeforethescheduledstartoftheirgame.Allgamesstartatthe

timepublishedintheschedule.

3. Alateteamwillbegivenagraceperiodoffive(5)minutespastthescheduledstarttime,whichwillbedeductedfromthetotalplayingtime.

4. Anyteamwithouttherequirednumberofplayerswithin5minutesofthescheduledtimewilldefaultthatgame.Ifanyteammemberisindoubt

abouttheireligibility,theyshouldspeakwiththeirteamcaptain/coach,

theScorekeeper,oranyoneonthePSGcommitteeimmediately.

5. Ifbothteamsarelate,bothwilldefaultandnopointswillbeawarded.6. TeamsdefaultingagameforanyreasonwillhavehalftheirSpiritDeposit

forfeited.

7. Ifplayers,teamofficials,gametimekeeper,etc.showupforagameinaconditionwhichintherefereesopinion,renderthemunabletotakepart,

therefereemaydefaultthegame.

8. Withrespecttodangerousplayingconditions,thedecisionofwhethertobeginorcontinueagameissolelythedecisionofthereferees.The

Commissionaireshallrescheduleagamepostponedforanyreasonattheearliestpossibletimepriortotheendoftheroundrobin.Ifmorethanone

halfremainstobeplayed,thentheentiregameshallbereplayed.Ifless

thanonefullperiodremainstobeplayed,thenonlytheunfinished

portionofthegameshallbeplayed.

C)CoachesandCaptains

1. EachteammusthaveadesignatedTeamCaptainand/orCoach.2. ItistheresponsibilityofeachTeamCaptain/Coachtoensurethatall

playersoftheirteamarefullyeligibletoparticipate.

3. EachteammustidentifytheirTeamCaptainand/orCoachatthebeginningofeachgame.Ifthecaptainisnotpresent,theteamwill

nominateaplayertobeactingcaptainforthatgame.Thispersonwilltake

onalldutiesandresponsibilitiesastheactualcaptain.Thispersonwillbe

identifiedastheactingcaptainonthescoresheet.

4. ONLYTHECAPTAIN/COACHshouldbespeakingwiththerefereesduringthegametime.Playerswhowishtodiscussanyissuewitharefereemust

asktheCaptainorCoachtospeakontheirbehalf.

5. ItistheresponsibilityofeachTeamCaptain/Coachtofilloutthegamerostersheetfullybeforeeachgameandsignittoaffirmtheeligibilityand

informationofeachplayerontheroster.

6. TeamCaptainsandCoachareexpectedtoknowandunderstandthegeneralandspecificrulesfortheirsport.Theymustabidebythem,and

ensurethattheirteamisawareofthemandtheirconsequences.Ifthereis

anyconfusionregardingtherules,pleasecontactthePSGcommittee.

7. ItistheTeamCaptain'sandCoachsdutytoknowhis/herdutiesandresponsibilitiesbeforethegamebegins.

Section2:SpecificRules(BeachVolleyball)

A)TeamsandPlayers

1. Ateammusthaveaminimumof4playersonthecourttoplay.Ifatanytimeateamhaslessthan4playersforagame,thegameisadefault.

2. A team can have a maximum of 6 players on the court at a time.3. 2malesand2femalesmustbeonthecourtatalltimesforeachteam.

B)Equipment

1. Propergymattiremustbeworntoparticipate(nojeansorpants/shortswithzippers).

2. Playersmustplaybarefoot.3. Nojewellery(unlessproperlytapeddown),non-elasticheadbands,or

hardsupportbracesareallowedduringgametime.Captainswillbe

warnedatthebeginningofthegametohavealltheirplayersremovesuch

items.Duringthegame,playersfoundwithsuchitemswillbeaskedto

leaveplayuntiltheitemisremoved.

4. Allgameswillbeplayedonanoutdoorbeachcourt.5. Astandardvolleyballwillbeprovidedforgameplay.

C)GameLengths

1. Eachmatchwillbeabestofthreerally-scoringsets;howeveracapof30minuteswillbesetfortheround-robinmatches.2. Forround-robingames,thefirsttwosetsareupto21(winby2)andthe

third(ifnecessary)isupto15(winby2).

3. Teamsmustwinby2pointswithacapsetat23pointsforthefirsttwosetsand17forthethird;duringplayoffs,thesecapswillincreaseto27

and21respectively;forfinals,therewillbenocapset.

D)Gameplay

1. Eachteamisallowedamaximumofthreesuccessivecontactsoftheballinordertoreturntheballtotheopponentsarea.Blocksdonotcountasacontact.

2. InternationalINDOORvolleyballruleswillbefollowed.3. Blockingorattackingaserveisillegal.4. Servesthathitthenetareinplay.5. Allpassesmustbeclearlyhit,notthrown,lifted,orchangeofdirection

allowedbyadoublehit.

6. Abackrowplayercanonlyspiketheballfrombehindtheattackline(playercannotjumpinfrontofattackline).

7. Aplayerisnotallowedtotakesupportfromteammatesoranystructuretohelpincontactingtheball.

8. Theballmustcrossthenetbetweenthesidelinesandabovethenet.9. Theballisallowedtotouchthenetbeforecrossingit,includingona

serve.

8. Incidentalcontactorshirttouchingwiththenetisnotafault,exceptwhenaplayertouchesitduringtheactionofplayingtheballorit

interfereswiththeplay.

9. Substitutionsareunlimitedandmayonlyoccurduringdeadballs.10.Teamsmayelecttorotateallplayersinoneatatimethroughtheservers

positionormaysubstituteplayerforplayer.

11.One30-secondtimeoutispermittedpersetperteam.12.ConstantInappropriateorunsportsmanlikeconductmayresultinagame

ejection.

E)Lines

1. Anyballlandingonthelineisgood.2. Theservermuststandentirelybehindtheendlineuntiltheystrikethe

ball.

3. Aplayersfoot/handmaylandonthecenterlineprovideditisnotentirelyovertheline.

F)NetPlay

1. Playersmayreachoverthenetandblocktheball,providedtheopposingteamhascompletedtheirattempttoreturntheballoverthenet.

2. Theballisconsideredtohavecrossedthenetwhenanypartoftheballisextendedoverthenet.

3. Teamsmustrotateclockwiseafterreceivingaside-outG)ImportantBeachRules

1. TraditionalBeachVolleyballruleswillnotbeemployed(i.e.blockscountasahit,cantvolleyoffaserve,noopenhandedtipping)

2. InternationalINDOORVolleyballruleswillbefollowed.(i.e.blocksdonotcountasahit,canvolleyoffaserve,openhandedtipsallowed)

H)Service

1. Youmayonlytosstoserveonce.Youarenotallowedtotossandlettheballdropforanothertoss.

2. Theservermustcontacttheballwithin8secondsaftertherefereewhistlesfortheservice.

3. Youmustserveaccordingtoyourrotation.Violationofthisrulewillresultinarotationalfault.

4. Atthemomentofservicehit,theservermustbeintheservingzonebehindthecourtbetweenthesidelines.5. Yourfootmaynottouchthelineonaserve.Footfoulwillresultinaloss

ofserve.

6. Aplayermayservefor5straightpointsperservicepossession;thentheserveisturnedovertothenextplayerintherotation.

I)Defaults

1. Ifthe4-playerminimumisnotmet,andthe5-minutegraceperiodexpires,theteamwilldefaultthefirstset.Iftheteamdoesnotmeettheminimumrequirementafter10minutes,thegamewillbedefaulted.

2. Intheeventofadefault,thewinningteamwillbeawarded3pointsanda2-0win.

3. Ifbothteamsarelate,theywillbothforfeitthegameandnopointswillbeawardedinthestandings.

4. DefaultsandSuspensionsmayresultinalossofSpiritDeposit.J)TournamentStandings

1. Inroundrobinplay,standingsshallbedecidedonthefollowingpointsystem:

- 3pointsforawin- 1pointforatie- 0pointsforaloss

2. Playoffgameswillfollowtheplayoffbracketprovidedandwillbesingleelimination.

3. Divisionalstandingwillberankedbasedonthenumberofpoints.Intheeventofatieinthestandings,thefollowingwillbeusedastiebreakers(inthisorder):totalwins,pointsfor,pointsagainst,recordbetween

teams,cointoss.
