The teacher will die-cut the materials for student use prior to each lesson. Use one Volcano, 3-D w/Lava to demonstrate understanding of the three Volcano types or create three separate Volcanoes and display them for learning fun. 1. Die-cut the Volcano, 3-D w/Lava from brown and orange-colored cardstock or construction paper. Alternately, die-cut from white paper and allow students to decorate with colored pens, pencils or crayons (Figure A). 2. Fold the Volcano into a cone shape and adhere along one of the three perforated lines with double-sided tape. Adhere along the first line to create a shield cone, the second middle line to create a composite cone or the third inner line to create a cinder cone (Figure B). 3. Attach Lava to the crater of the Volcanoes to demonstrate eruption types. Adhere the cinder cone Lava straight up, the composite cone Lava straight up and along the side and the shield cone Lava along the side (Figure C). ©2011 Ellison.
