DesignerThe classic Vola design was created by Arne Jacobsen, known the world over for outstanding architecture and design. Also famous for his furniture, lighting and tableware, Jacobsen had an uncompromising sense of duty towards functional design whether it’s for a building or a tea spoon.

ManufacturerVola is manufactured by Vola A/S, a long established Danish company situated on the outskirts of Horsens. Founded in 1873, Vola A/S is still owned and managed by the Overgaard family.

Idea‘Necessity’ they say is the mother of invention, so when Arne Jacobsen needed a revolutionary design idea for his award winning National Bank of Denmark project Verner Overgaard of Vola A/S was only too pleased to help. He proposed a wall mounted mixer where all the mechanical parts are hidden within the wall leaving only the mixer handle and spout visible to the user. At that time this was a completely new concept but Jacobsen could see the potential. Combining Verner Overgaard’s idea with his own functionalistic approach to design, the simple and concise Vola design we know today was born. After 35 years in production, the unchanged Vola design has proved itself time and time again and continues to be the world’s leading design in high quality taps and accessories.

Design prizesNot long after production began Vola was awarded the ID-prize for it’s excellent design. International recognition soon followed with Vola being selected for exhibition in centres of architecture and design such as Museum of Modern Art New York, Kunstgewerbemuseum Cologne, Cincinnati Art Museum, Neue Sammlung Munich, to mention just a few.

MaterialVola can be purchased in solid stainless steel, polished or brushed chrome as well as 18 rich colours. A large selection of the Vola range is also available in un-lacquered brass.

Quality controlEach stage of the production process from inspection of the raw material, through to the finished tap, is sub-ject to Vola A/S’ intense quality control system based on the ISO 9001 quality system.

General information

Composition

The Vola range is built on a modular system comprising valves, handles, outlets, finishing plates and accessories. These

components can be used in an infinite number of ways to meet any requirement whether it be kitchen, bathroom, shower

room or utility area. All Vola in-wall mixers are available with integral or remote outlets making it possible to position control

handles and spouts independently.

Short, medium or long levers are available on most models to ensure easy use whatever the application. Spouts for kitch-

en, wash basin, bath or bidet are offered in various sizes as standard. However, special sizes are available on request. All

wall combinations are supplied with circular finishing flanges or a choice of 2, 3 or 4 hole rectangular plates allowing han-

dles, outlets and accessories to be grouped together giving the appearance of a single unit.

Mixer and stop valves

The many different valve options offered by Vola enable the specifier to select the unit most suitable for the required

purpose whether a water-saving mixer for wash basin, or a high flow combination for bath filling.

Most Vola mixing valves are suitable only for use with pumped or pressurised hot water systems though a small selection

can be used with gravity feed hot & cold – please ask your distributor for details.

As part of the strict quality control at Vola A/S, every Vola component is thoroughly tested before leaving the factory. Under

normal working conditions Vola mixer cartridges are maintenance-free for a minimum period of 5 years after installation.

Maintenance

Non acid-based cleaners must be used when cleaning Vola stainless steel products. Stainless steel cleaners may be used

though we advise against the use of undiluted detergents such as alcohol, bleach or thinners, as this may cause discol-

ouration. Scouring powder or other abrasives should not be used.

Lime scale build-up can be removed from spout filters or aerators by soaking in vinegar for a few hours.
