Dwivedi WORTH SEEN ACTIVITY Vol.25 (5), August, 2015 Establishment of Modern Poultry farming System NEWS IN BRIEF Sandarbh Vyakti Prashikshan Karyakram of “Teesari Sarkar” (Panch Parmeshwar) Bioved Research Institute of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences (BRIATS) has established a Modern Poultry Farming System at Bioved Krishi Prodyogiki Gram, Moharab, Sringverpur, Allahabad. Sufficient number of broilers are produced as per monthly requirement of the adjoining areas for creating self confidence among the poultry farmers. All sorts of feed back desired by farmers i.e. about high yielding varieties of chickens, Nutritious food , medicines, farming methods and marketing arrangements are being provided to farmers and interested persons by BRIATS. This farm also provides consultancy services to poor and needy farmers, who are interested in poultry farming. As we know, poultry is one of the fastest growing segment of Indian agriculture and is now being recognized as an organized and science based industry with tremendous potential to fight poverty, unemployment and malnutrition. Poultry industry in India has a strong standing globally being third highest egg producer and fifth highest broiler producer. Nearly 5 million people are directly or indirectly engaged in poultry sector, apart from numerous small poultry keepers in rural and tribal areas. Over the last three decades, there has been a phenomenal growth in the Indian poultry industry. Two days workshop on Good governance for rural and agriculture development was organised on 1st August and 2 August 2015 at Bioved Krishi Prodyogiki Gram, Moharab, Sringverpur, Allahabad under the auspices of Bioved Research Institute of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences and Panch Parmeshwar Vidyapeeth, Allahabad. 80 members of 16 districts participated in this residential workshop and 16 subject experts of different fields of Agriculture trained the participants by learning by doing methods. Mishra, Dr.Jagdiswar Dwivedi, Dr. Chandra Shekhar Pran, Dr. Girjesh Pandey, Dr. Pradeep Bhatnagar, Mr. SatyaPrakash, Mr. Shukdev Mishra and Mr. Raj Bahadur Bind actively participated in this workshop. Dr. S.D.Mishra, Chairman and Dr. B.K. Dwivedi, Director, Bioved Research Institute of Agriculture, Technologyand Sciences, Allahabad trained the participants about Hi-tech farming i.e. Scientific method of Laccultivation, Pearl culture, Integrated Fish-Duck-Poultry-Dairy-Hi-tech nursery farming, Mushroomcultivation, Seri culture, Apiculture, Spirulina cultivation, Ornamental fish production, Medicinal andaromatic plants cultivation and its value addition in practical manner. Dr. Mishra and Dr. Dwivedi explainedin details about different demonstrated technologies of Bioved Institute Farm,Allahabad.

“Swantantrata Divas” was celebrated on 15th August, 2015 at the Head Quarter of BRIATS and at BiovedKrishi prodyogiki Gram, Moharab, Sringverpur, Allahabad. Our National Flag was hoisted by Dr. S. D.Mishra, Chairman, BRIATS at both the places. Dr. S.D. Mishra,

A cultural program was organized at Sringverpur in its auditorium in the presence of Dr. B. K.Dwivedi, Director, BRIATS and most of the staff members of Bioved. Sweets and light refreshment wasdistributed among all the members present in this celebration. This celebration was ended with nice lunch.

A general staff meeting was held in the afternoon of 15th August, 2015 with all the staff members andworkers of BRIATS in the lecture hall of Bioved Krishi Prodyogiki Gram, Moharab, Sringverpur,Allahabadin the presence of Dr. B. K. Dwivedi, Director, BRIATS. The over all development of the farm areas and allthe applied activities were discussed. Desired guidance was given to all the staff members for theimprovement in their duties. Much stress was given for the improvement of work efficiency by Dr. B. K.Dwivedi and Dr. S.D. Mishra in the day to day functioning of all the staff members.

Organization of Sanghosthi on “ Per evum Beti Bachavo” on Raksha Bandhan :-

Mr.P. Sodhi, National Co-ordinator, UNDP, GEF, SGP, MOEF, GI and CEE from Delhi visited the Headquarter at BRIATS on 19.08.2015 at 10:00 AM. He discussed indetails about R&D activities initiated by BRIATS in Allahabadwith Dr. B. K. Dwivedi and Dr. S. D. Mishra. He visited andviewed demonstration cum sale point of different value addedproducts prepared by target beneficiaries of UNDP project withj o i n t u s e o f l a c w i t hBioresources materiels andagri-waste materials and Labsof BRIATS and also saw themuseum and workshop of Lac,

where ladies workers and Master Trainers of Lac value additionprogramme were in action in their activities.

Mr. P. Sodhi also visited Bioved krishi Prodyogiki Gram,Moharab, Sringverpur, Allahabad, on 20th August 2015, where he sawwell established Library, Computer Lab, Biotech Laboratory,Auditorium,Museum, Lecture halls, Guest House, Kisan Guest House, Dairy farm,Poultry farm, Lac workshop, Pearl culture ponds, Spirulina ponds, PolyHouse for High-tech nursery, Medicinal Plants cultivation, Jatrophacultivation and Flemingia cultivation. He was well impressed with thevarious activities of BRIATS.

A meeting with all the staff members and workers of BRIATS washeld in the evening with Mr. Sodhi in the presence of Dr. B. K. Dwivediand Dr. S. D. Mishra. This meeting was also attended by all the Seniorofficers of Bioved. Mr. P. Sodhi discussed about the working of all thestaff members. Mr. Sodhi discussed about all the development of projectassigned by UNDP. He appreciated the progress made in the project aswell as the performance of Dr. Dwivedi. AMOU among 7 NGO of U.P.,M.P., Jharkhand, Maharashtra was signed with NGO partner, Biovedand UNDP, GEF, SGP for implementation of project activities in properand systematic manners.

A meeting of Nehru Yuva Kendra, Allahabadwas organized on 22.08.2015, on Nationalawakening programme at Mehta PreshagrihPrayag Sangit Samiti, Allahabad. Dr. B.K.Dwivedi Director, BRIATS was invited as aGuest of Honour.

A Sanghosthi was organized at Bioved krishi Prodyogiki Gram, Moharab, Sringverpur, Allahabad on27.08.2015 on a very important topic “Per evum Beti Bachavo”, On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. Dr.R.P. Mishra, Ex- V.C., University of Allahabad, presided over the meeting and (Dr. Mrs.) Kumud Dubey,Director, Social Forestry was Chief Guest on this function.

Dr R.P. Mishra expressed in his presidential address that in thepresent day situation the protection and conservation of naturaltrees are very essential. Dr. Mishra stressed upon the care ofplants and trees more than their plantation. The Chief GuestsDr. (Mrs) Kumud Dubey and Dr. (Mrs) Anubha Srivastavaspoke in detail on the aspect of protection of girls speciallyduring pregnancy and before taking their birth, because ladiesplay major role in the continuation of life. Mrs. PrabhaBhargava, President, Garden Association stressed more on thetree plantations and their proper care and maintenance.Sri Kamrul Hasan, Regional Director, Central Board for

workers education (Min. of Labour employment, Govt. of India) in his speach emphasized that protectionand care of girls and trees are very important issues, which has to be seriously looked upon, if we want tolead a successful and happy life. Dr. S.D. Mishra, Chairman BRIATS said that our moral duty is to protectour girls and ladies. He appealed to all the ladies present in the Hall to request their brothers to protect treesfor our future life and also to tie Rakhees on the trees with a feeling that they are their brothers. Dr. Mohd.Arif, Scientist, Defence Ministry Govt. of India, stressed on the various wrong ill feelings about ladies in ourSociety and appealed to check such activities by all members ofthe society. He also said that to protect the environment, theplantation of trees is essential. Dr. B.K. Dwivedi, Director,BRIATS welcomed all the dignitaries and guests present in thehall. While explaining the importance of trees and ladies for thesurvival and continuation of our life, he advised the youth,farmers, ladies and other interested persons for lac cultivationfor getting self employment and additional income. He alsostressed on not cutting of trees to protect biodiversity.

Hundreds of ladies present during the function tiedRakhees on trees on this ceremony and also took oath fromtheir brothers for the safety of girls, ladies and trees and also todevelop a brotherly feeling with trees and plants. The program was attended by most of the staff members of
