What w i t h hay, sheep shearing and one t h i n g and another l i f e has been p r e t t y f u l l t h i s f o r t n i g h t . Up our way, the wool was only j u s t r i s i n g on the 19th June, which i s very l a t e . The ram butted each sheep a f t e r i t had been shorn and g e n e r a l l y r a i s e d Cain. Maybe he thought t h e i r wool was. too low cut or something. We have seen human husbands put on very much the same kind of act over t h e i r wives'new dresses.
We have a l e t t e r from Rev.J.G.G.Bompas about a L i q u o r Store on S a l t S p r i n g . He w r i t e s : " I should l i k e to ask a question regarding the proposed "Liquor Store f o r Ganges. I understand our medical ''men say that the general h e a l t h of our people would be b e t t e r i f we d i d "not d r i n k so much. Compare what we spend on d r i n k s w i t h what we spend on "education, and how can i t be maintained that we are not wasting too much "money on a l c o h o l i c beverages? The r e g u l a r monthly business meeting of the Gulf Islands Branch #84,Canadian Legion was held on Wed. 27th, at Arbutus P o i n t , home of Mr.& Mrs.Alec Scoones. The urgent need of a Resident Doct o r to take over the p r a c t i c e r e c e n t l y vacated by the retirement of Dr.Roberts, was a matter of concern & a l e t t e r from Mayne I s l a n d was read,drawing a t t e n t i o n to the matter e I t was decided t o send a c o n t r i b u t i o n of $10 t o the Secretary of the G u l f Islands Improvement Bureau, Mr. Lar n i e of Saturna, t o help w i t h the expenses of a d v e r t i s i n g .
