No. 2008-ag-2561, Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture, Farhat Batool D/o Muhammad Iqbal, Reg. No. 2007-ag-199, Department of Zoology, Wildlife and Fisheries, Faculty of Sciences, Muhammad Ikram-ul-Haq S/o Niaz Ahmad, Reg. No. 2007-ag-2622, Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture have passed their final examination for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (2018). The Vice Chancellor is pleased to sanction their admissions to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (2018). The titles of their thesis are “Extraction and exploration of Zein protein as potential encapsulating material”, “Influence of seed priming on the performance of barley varieties under late sown and abiotic stress conditions”, “Phenotypic and genetic characterization of house sparrow (Passer domesticus) using microsatellite markers from selected sites in Punjab, Pakistan”, “Bio-economic assessment of barley and legume crops grown under different planting and water use techniques” respectively. Now the PhD club swells up to 1682. NEW ASSIGNMENTS 1. The Vice Chancellor, in exercise of the powers vested in him under Section 15(4)(vi) of the

UAF Act, 1973 has been pleased to direct Prof. Dr. Manzoor Ahmad, Department of Farm Machinery & Power to work as Director, Financial Assistance and University Advancement, with immediate effect, till further orders, in addition to his own duties by releiving Prof. Dr. Hafeez Ahmad Sadaqat, Department of Plant Breeding & Genetics. He will be entitled to drow two months basic pay (BPS) per annum as remuneration for holding the above additional assignment.

2. The Vice Chancellor, in exercise of the powers delegated to him by the Syndicate at its meeting held on 14-02-1991 and in terms of Para 03 of the UAF Subject Expert (Conditions of service), Rules 1990 has further been pleased to engage Dr. Shahid Afzal Gill, Deputy Registrar (Retd) as Subject Expert @ Rs. 70,000/- per month (equal to BS-19) for a period of six months, with effect from the date of joining, by relieving Dr. Farooq Ahmad, Associate Professor, Department of Entomology. Dr. Gill will work in the Directorate of Farms and enjoy the financial and administrative powers of the Dirctor Farms. They have assumed the charge of their new assignments.

3. The Vice Chancellor, in exercise of the powers vested in him under Section 15(4)(vi) of the UAF Act, 1973 has been pleased to direct Prof. Dr. Mahmood Ahmad Randhawa, Department of Continuing Education to work as Director, Institute of Business Management Sciences, with immediate effect, in addition to his own duties, till further orders. He will be entitled to draw two months basic pay (BPS) per annum as remuneration on account of performing additional duties.

MR. MUHAMMAD JAMIL TO WORK AS SECRETARY TO VICE CHANCELLOR Mr. Muhammad Jamil SST (Performing duties as Law Officer) Litigation Section Registrar’s Office has been transferred to Vice Chancellor’s Secretariat. He will perform his duties as Secretary to Vice Chancellor in addition to his existing duties as Law Officer. Mr. Muhammad Jamil is MA English/Education and after obtaining LLB degree, a vast experience of diligently dealing with the litigation issues of the varsity is on his credit. Mr. Muhammad Jamil will be entitled to draw additional allowance @ 20% of this basic pay upto a maximum of Rs. 12,000/- per month as approved by the Syndicate at its meeting held on 22-10-2016. NOTIFICATION 1. In supresession of all previous orders relating to all schools and colleges of the UAF (Main

Campus/PARS), the Vice Chancellor, in exercise of the powers vested in him under Section 15(4)(vi) of the UAF Act, 1973 has been pleased to direct that all schools and colleges (Main Campus/PARS) will be under the administrative and financial control of the Principal, UAF Community College, PARS with immediate effect, till further orders, in addition to his own duties.

2. The Vice Chancellor in exercise of the power vested in him under section 15(4)(vi) of the UAF Act, 1973 has pleased to direct Dr. Muhammad Kasib Khan, Assistant Professor, Department of Parasitology to develop suggestion/complaint portal and online system for postgraduate enrolment and preparation of course work. He may co-opt any faculty member or volunteer students to assist him in this assignment. The Directors, Graduate Studies, Controller of Examinations and IT Departments will extend all necessary cooperation to him for implementation of above assigments.

NOTIFICATION 1. The competent authority of the University has been pleased to extend the date for

submission of final thesis for Summer Session, 2017-18 for those students who got scrutinized their semifinal thesis from the office of the Director Gradudate Studies within due date. However, those who will fail to submit their final thesis upto 14-09-2018 may enroll Winter Semester, 2018-19 upto 18-09-2018 with late fee Rs. 1200/-.

2. The competent authority of the University has allowed the postgraduate students to deposit dues/complete enrolment formalities for Winter Semester, 2018-19 with double late fee Rs. 1200/- upto 13-09-2018. However, such students would be themselves responsible of consequences (if any) of late enrolment.

PLACEMENT OF PhD THESIS FOR PEER REVIEW PhD thesis of Mr. Muhammad Ibrahim Shahid, Regd. No. 2006-ag-1973, PhD student in Entomology, entitled “Geographic variation in the susceptibility of Spodoptera exigua (Hubner) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) to Cry toxins in Bt-cotton” has been placed for peer review in the office of Chairman Entomology w.e.f. 05-09-2018 for seven days. All the faculty members and students are welcome to read/consulty the thesis. PhD THESIS/SYNOPSIS DEFENSE 1. Mr. Hafiz Arslan Anwaar, Regd. No. 2005-ag-1757, a PhD student of Plant Pathology has

successfully defended his PhD thesis on 07-09-2018. The title of his thesis is “Analysis of drought and rust diseases tolerance conferred by endophytes in wheat crop”.

2. Ms. Humera Aziz, Regd. No. 2007-ag-2045, PhD student of the Institute of Soil and Environmental Sciences has successfully defended her thesis in a seminar at the University level on 07-09-2018. The title of her thesis is “Soil Retention and bioavailability of chlorpyrifos to maize in soil receiving different organic amendments”.

3. Mr. Muhammad Iqbal, Regd. No. 2003-ag-1574, a PhD student in the Department of Plant Pathology, has successfully defended his PhD synopsis with minor change in title “Assessment and Management of Narrow Brown Leaf Spot Disease (Cercospora oryzae Miyahe) at University level on 06-09-2018 at 02:00 pm in the seminar room of department of Plant Pathology.

4. Mr. Hafiz Arslan Anwaar, Regd. No. 2005-ag-1757, a PhD student of Plant Pathology has successfully defended his PhD thesis on 07-09-2018. The title of his thesis was “Analysis of drought and rust diseases tolerance conferred by endophytes in wheat crop”.

5. Mr. Asad Manzoor, Regd. No. 2003-ag-2116, PhD scholar, Department of Clinical Medicine and Surgery has successfully defended his thesis entitled “Evaluation of a non-properietary preparation in the treatment of bubaline mastitis” on 11-09-2018.
