T E A C H E R ’ S G U I D E

I hope this latest edition of Music Alive finds you well. Whether you’re teaching on a cart, online or in hybrid or flipped classrooms, our mission is to provide readings and ancillary content adaptable to any music education scenario.

This month’s stories feature the amazing accomplishments of electronic dance music artist Kygo, one of the most streamed artists on Spotify and other music distribution platforms. There’s also an overview of gospel music and a “science of sound” story about how and why birds “sing” that’s perfect for interdisciplinary learning. On a separate note, I’d like to high-light the Make Music Winter event coming up in December. Organized by the non-profit organization Make Music with support from NAMM and an array of musical instrument manufacturers, it could be the focus of a fun, inter-active learning unit. You can learn more at www.makemusicday.org/about/winter/.

Have an idea for an article or activity? I’d love to hear from you and can be reached at [email protected]. We’re all in this together!
