Life Prosperity

Following the plan of cheerful giving brings with it a promise, a promise made by God, who originated the notion of generous giving: “You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God” (2 Corinthians 9:11).

Clearly Paul had seen this sort of thing happen over and over again. When a person begins to give on the basis of enthusiastic generosity, all sorts of things in life begin to fall into place. Blessings abound and spiritual maturity deepens into Christ-likeness. Abundance flows from the generous life!

Paul noticed that generous people often discovered all kinds of new wealth (spiritual and material) that permitted them to expand the parameters of their generosity. Generous giving is often its own reward as one becomes increasingly excited about giving of self and the spiritual gifts that God has invested in us.

The final result is that thanksgiving will be given to God. One person’s gift becomes the cause of a cry of praise from a score of others. What more could a generous giver want than the satisfaction of knowing that one small sacrifice caused a bountiful number of others to lift their hearts to heaven in worship because they have felt God’s love through the actions of his people?

This lovely symphony in praise of generous giving is Paul’s benediction upon the man or woman who finds it a joy to be gracious in their giving. In contrast to all the selfishness so easily found in our world, this is a refreshing contrast – a testimony to everything Jesus died for and meant to establish when he called a company of generous givers to follow him.

Lutheran School From the Principal’s Desk… July, 2011

t this time of year we celebrate the 4th of July when our forefathers

began a new country. They guaranteed our freedoms as they laid the foundation for our government. We also remember those who served our country in maintaining those freedoms. And let’s not forget to thank God for blessing us with these freedoms. May we never take them for granted.

A

ometimes I am asked what parents can do to keep their children sharp and not lose

what they learned in the previous school years.SArguably the two most important subjects in school are reading and math. So, keep your child reading – whether it’s the newspaper, comic books, magazines, books, or directions to make something. It can be read to them, by them, or with them. Just read, read, read. And your children should see you (moms and dads) reading too.

For keeping math skills sharp, have your child help you in the kitchen or with the grocery shopping, painting a room or working in the garden. With a little thought you can find math skills used in most aspects of daily life. Have your child help with the calculations.

Veterans of World War II are dying at an alarming rate everyday

It is a sad, but true fact. It won’t be long and the generation of Americans who fought in Europe, Africa, and the Pacific will no longer be with us and therefore we will lose living pieces of American history. Their stories need to be told and heard. You have an opportunity to read one man’s story. He’s a member of St. Paul’s and he has written the book, Why me, Lord? A Soldier’s Memoirs from WWII. WWII veteran, Lee Amborn, talks about being assigned to the 391st AAA AW BN, Basic Training, active duty in England, Wales and France, being reassigned to the 6850 Internal Security Detachment where in Nuremburg, Germany, he guarded the main Nazi war criminals, and finally, coming home on the Cruiser Portland. To his friends and family he is a hero, which is why he was asked by all of them to tell his story. If you’d like to read his story, contact Lee at (262)-215-5140 or by email: [email protected]. The cost of the book is $25 plus sales tax and shipping and handling (if needed).

~~~~~~~~FROM THE BILITZ FAMILY~~~~~~~
Dear Members of St. Paul’s,
Our family would like to say thanks and good bye to our church and school family. We will definitely miss all of the friendships we’ve made here the past 12 years.Thank you for calling me, Sarah, to teach and supporting me in that ministry for a short while. We appreciate the Christian education our children received – what a blessing for us as parents!We plan to visit when we are able, and we welcome you to visit us if you are in the area. It is difficult to leave, but we’re comforted by the promise of a wonderful reunion in heaven!
OPPORTUNITIES TO GIVE A SPECIAL GIFT
A special gift is defined as something given over and above your regular offering, e.g.: a memorial in memory of a loved one; a gift to mark a significant event in your life: wedding anniversary, baptism of a child, etc.; a thankoffering for blessings received; or a host of other reasons for wanting to give a special gift. The special gift can be given for the ongoing work of the congregation (the ministry plan, which includes the church, school and preschool) or you can choose from the list below. If you would prefer not to designate your special gift, it will be used in the following way: 10% will be given as a gift to the on-going work of the WELS; 10% will be given to St. Paul’s Christian Education Scholarship Fund; 10% will be given to the WELS Tuition Assistance Fund; 20% will allocated to the Board of Trustees (or their successors)to be used for special needs pertaining to our facilities; and, 50% will be applied to the mortgage principal.The guideline for giving a special gift is that if the gift is not given for the ongoing work of the congregation (the ministry plan), the special gift must completely fund at least one of the items you can choose from the list below. No new fund will be established to accumulate monies while waiting for a “project” to be completely funded. Please give your special gift (checks should be made out to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church) to either one of the pastors, one of the teachers, the school secretary, or place it in the offering plate. Please specifically indicate what your special gift is for.
The ministry plan for St. Paul’s congregation (on-going)Your gift will support the ongoing work of St. Paul’s congregation, which includes the church, school and preschool.
Cost: ranging from $1200 to under $10A prioritized list can be found at the end of this list.
An “induction loop” system in the church for people with hearing aids. (2008)This system will help make speech more intelligible for our members and guests who use hearing aids that have a telecoil. The loop system is not visible to its users. No equipment to collect. No batteries to check. No headphones to wear. It uses people’s hearing aids that have a telecoil.
Cost: $2,050 (2008 price)
Video system for the church (2008)A permanently mounted system to allow for video presentations (PowerPoint, DVD/Videos [WELS Connection], projection of songs, etc.) in the sanctuary so that a video cart, cords, speakers and screen are not taking up floor space in the chancel.
Cost: $17,320 (2008 price)
Complete 3 octave handbell set (2009)These instruments will allow more people to become involved in the music ministry of St. Paul’s. People who have an interest in praising God through music, but feel they can’t sing, would have a way to use their talents.
Cost: $11,560 (2009 price)
Yamaha CLP-370 Clavinova (electric keyboard for the church)This state-of-the art instrument will be a great addition to our music program for the church and school. It will give the music coordinator the ability to easily record accompaniments for rehearsals, solos, and instrumental arrangements. It will have computer interface options capable of downloading music to be used by choirs or for congregational singing. It will also have the ability to make copies to give to people for individual practice at home. This price is a real deal given to churches.
Cost: $2,999 (2010 price)
Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary Scholarship Fund (on-going)A gift to this fund will provide financial assistance to men who are studying to pastors in the WELS.
*******************************Pick up your copy of Guidelines for a Funeral/memorial service at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church from the tract rack in the hallway. This can be a useful tool, whether you are preplanning your own or if you are the person appointed by the deceased to handle the arrangements.
King’s Men is a ministry open to all adult men of St. Paul’s to encourage them to be men of the Word so they can be men of their word. King’s Men meets the third Sunday of every month at 7:00 a.m. at Burger King in East Troy. The men pray for the Bible study and for one another. King’s Men has covered such topics as the resurrection, a study of one of the characters or books of the Bible like Joshua, how the men can share the good news with others, how to make your wife feel like she is the most important person in the world, promises of a father to his children, and many other timely subjects which attempt to help men honor God and all God’s children in this world. The leader of King’s Men is John V. Nelson. For further information, you can call him at 363-8168 or e-mail him at [email protected].
