WELCOME TO
OURNEIGHBORHOOD
KAREN & DEREK CONKLIN with MATTI & TIGGER reside at 1950 Cove Pointe Drive
The Conklin family is moving to Cove Pointe on afull time basis. They are happy to be leaving the win-ters in Hamilton, Ohio (near Cincinnati) behind.
They have vacationed in Venice for the past 12 yrs. They resided at the Augusta Villas in Venice duringtheir time here. They feel Cove Pointe is the perfectmatch for their full time residence.
Karen & Derek attend the Grace Bible FellowshipChurch in Nokomis where Derek is the Treasurer.
The Conklin family publishes yearly, “Greater Cin-cinnati Pet Pages” and “Greater Dayton Pet Pages”.These publications are resource guides for pet servic-es in these areas.
Derek is the “sales staff”, Karen is the “office staffand IT support” with Tigger and Matti acting as cover
models and inspiration for each publication.
Derek’s hobbies and activities include Chess, physical fitness and dog activities.
Karen’s activities and hobbies include swimming, physical activities, web site development and petpublications.
Surprisingly, Matti and Tigger’s activities mirror alot of the same activities of Karen and Derek. Es-pecially in the area of “Pets and Dogs”.
Those of us who have met the Conklin Family feelwe are lucky to have them as new neighbors herein our small enclave of Cove Pointe.

On March 23rd at 3 a.m. I witnessedthis image at the 3rd door opening af-ter entering our home @ 1934 CovePointe Dr. To my amazement, thewavy image spoke to me! She had alow, feminine voice. The voice had aa somewhat whispering sound likewind blowing, but with a “Southernaccent”.
After I asked who she was, she ex-plained that she was born on a smallfarm located at the site of where welive today. She said her birth date wason the 3rd day of March, 1933. She
explained that she was a first generation American, born toItalian immigrants. I asked her what her name was and shesoftly whispered “Perfection”. I answered, did you say,“Patricia”? To which she replied louder, “no, Perfection”.
Then she continued, “My father was named GiuseppiPointe. And my mother was named Perfection Cove. I wasnamed after my mother and took both of my parents’ lastnames,. Thus I am called “Perfection Cove-Poine”. OrCove-Pointe, Perfection.

INSIDE THE BOARDROOM
WHY WE LIVE IN A DEED RESTRICTED COMMUNITY
Deed Restrictions are wonderful or a pain dependingon your point of view. While helping rewrite the Cove-nants and Bylaws I have learned how strong individualviews can be. Since I moved into Cove Pointe the cove-nants have been followed closely except for a few ar-eas. I have also learned that they need to be followedto support their intent and that many restrictions areunknown to us residents.
With that thought, it behooves us to be aware ofthem. The one that has been the most difficult is land-scaping changes. Summarizing Section IX.1.0 of thecovenants; “approval of the Board of Directors is re-quired for any addition or removal of landscaping. Thiswould include plants, decorations, pots, statues, etc”.
Please respect the Boards job and request additions orchanges ahead of time. Also, please review your ownyard and make reductions in size or number of potsand sculptures to be consistent with the rest of theneighborhood.
Pickup trucks: Simply-----no pickup trucks can beparked in Cove Pointe overnight unless in the garage!Don’t know how I am going to handle my visitors, 3 outof 4 of my kids have pickups. Hummmmm!!!! Any sug-gestions from the more seasoned residents would beappreciated.
Delivery trucks seem to have gotten bigger and arechewing up the lawns! When ordering something ormoving please request that smaller trucks be used.Definitely no big trucks that bend in the middle.
Mulch is currently available from Proway (our lawncompany) for $8.85 per bag, installed. Most lawns wouldrequire ~8 bags. This mulch is just like the mulch wehave recently put on our common area. It is a better qual-ity than you would generally purchase at Home Depotand will last longer. In addition, your mulch wouldmatch in both color and texture that of our common ar-eas.
If you are interested in having them apply mulch on yourlawn areas needing mulch, please let me know @ 941-497-6879. If you choose to apply it yourself, you canpurchase it by the bag at Forestry Resources Inc., 850 N.Hwy 776, Englewood, FL. Or, at Edgewood Nursery,326 N Havana Rd., Venice, FL (between Round About& River Rd).
Our Pump House is now grounded and protected withsurge protection. Our recent fire, caused by lighting, wasdue to the lack of these two items.
Our pond fountain was previously part of the irrigationsystem. This was expensive to operate due to the size ofthe pump motor. It was disconnected and replaced witha stand alone pump motor four years ago. This modifica-tion has paid for itself over a three year period due to oursavings in electricity.
