CHAIRMAN’S MESSAGE
Major New Membership
Drive and Contest Roadmap to Your Success
As I discussed in my column in the February Issue of the monthly
newsletter, “The Bronx Chamber of Commerce benefits all stakeholders: members, Bronx businesses, non-profit organizations and the entire Bronx
Community”.
At a Special Historic meeting of the Board of Directors of the Bronx
Chamber of Commerce held March 1st, 2018 at the Residence Inn by Marriott, members unanimously launched a major New Membership Drive to
further the Mission of the Chamber. Read more about it on the Front Cover of this month’s newsletter and continued on page 6.
The mission of the Bronx Chamber of Commerce is to strengthen the
economic viability and improve the quality of life for the Bronx. We play an
active, significant role in the economic development of the borough, and formed many initiatives and partnerships that have made immeasurable
strides in the crucial fields of education, employment, and health.
Nunzio Del Greco, President and CEO of the Chamber stated: “A larger membership base in the Bronx Chamber of Commerce insures financial
strength, greater benefits for all members, elevates the credibility of the
Chamber and further improves the image of The Bronx!”
All members are encouraged to participate in this major new membership Drive and Contest. For each new member you recruit to join, you
will be listed as “recommended by” in the monthly newsletter with the new member’s name, company and contact information.
I challenge you to confirm that each of your contacts, people you do
business with, vendors and business associates are active members of the
Bronx Chamber of Commerce.
The member who recruits the most new members will be presented an award at the 2018 Holiday Party and featured
in the monthly newsletter.
We have a number of excellent networking events coming up in the next
few months including two major events: the Bronx version of the Academy Awards with the Bronx business Awards scheduled for April 18, 2018 and the

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT
Cole Torres founded Local Eye Media with the intention of helping small to mid-sized businesses maximize their marketing efforts at a sensible price. His background in sales and marketing, along with conversations with many business owners, lead him to recognize a problem with many online marketing service offerings. Many business owners are faced with “à la carte” offerings while not knowing exactly what each service would provide or what services would work in harmony with the other. Cole saw too many businesses spend money with no results to show. He also discovered too many companies that took advantage of business owners that did not have strong enough knowledge on the topic into services that are not helpful.
Founded in 2016, Local Eye Media has provided opportunities for small to mid-sized businesses to consolidate their online marketing efforts so that each aspect can provide true value. Cole’s main goal has been to develop packages that allows companies to get the value of hiring an experienced digital marketing employee at a fraction of the cost. He set out to accomplish this by focusing on building complete systems for clients to take leads from first impression all the way to paying customer.
One of the biggest obstacles that Cole has to overcome is a misperception of the services he offers. He doesn’t blame this on the business owners, but rather on service providers that did not come through for them. “I hear business owners say all too often that they have paid someone to post on Facebook before and saw no results,” says Cole. “This has caused many to become skeptical of this marketing avenue, which is unfortunate because I can show stats that show a great deal of efficiency ROI compared to other marketing channels. The problem is that other providers did not provide a valuable
‘REALIZING THE AMERICAN DREAM’: TD BANK AWARDS
BROOKLYN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE $750,000 GRANT TO
PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL SEMINARS TO SMALL BUSINESSES Bronx Chamber to Partner with Citywide 5 Chamber Alliance Nonprofits, TD to Assist Small Businesses and Home Owners
The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce has been awarded a $750,000 grant from
the TD Foundation to foster small business education and pathways to home ownership by partnering with nonprofits throughout the borough. The grant, which
will be paid out over the course of three years, will allow the 5 Chamber Alliance to produce a bevy of small business education workshops, as well as seminars for potential home buyers, educating them on what mortgage lenders look for when they approve loans.
"This grant follows a long history of helping businesses in Brooklyn, and beyond, including the expansion of the city-wide Neighborhood Entrepreneurship Project, which helped enumerable waterfront communities recover in the wake of Superstorm Sandy. We’re extremely grateful to be able to continue our productive partnership with TD Bank, which will create opportunities for small businesses and more educated home ownership in Brooklyn, and throughout the five boroughs. I look forward to continuing this relationship in the future," said Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Andrew Hoan.
The 5 Chamber Alliance last partnered, with TD Bank’s support, in 2012 in order to assist businesses that were affected by Superstorm Sandy. TD Bank Group and
the TD Charitable Foundation provided a grant of $200,000, at the time, to create the Citywide Entrepreneurship Project. It provided direct commercial revitalization services to small businesses throughout the city, as a whole, with each borough program run out of the borough’s corresponding Chamber of Commerce.
The potential to empower thousands of New York residents with financial education and stability is not only an honor for TD, it's our obligation," said Peter Meyer, Market President, TD Bank. "This partnership will provide economic growth to individuals interested in improving their financial status, as well as provide small business owners with the tools needed to create a sustainable, thriving business and we're excited to be a part of this effort."

We provide all of this is much less than most people think, and this is just the basic package!”
Cole decided to have Local Eye Media become a part of the Bronx Chamber of Commerce because it is a special place to him. First, he has been a Yankee’s fan since a young age. His hero was Derek Jeter and he was all too excited to see him hit a walk-off base hit in his final home at-bat. Another reason the Bronx is special to Cole is because of his time at the United States Military Academy at West Point. During his time there Army played Rutgers at Yankee Stadium in 2011. One of his fondest memories of his time there was when he got to march onto the field before the game and to be on the field where some of his heroes played.
Cole is very excited become a member and to get to know the other members of the Bronx Chamber. As a gesture to all other members of the Bronx Chamber, Cole is having Local Eye Media run a lifetime discount to all members. He is offering $100/month off our basic package and $200/month off our tier 2 package as well as waiving all setup fees. More details on this can be found in the Member to member deals on the Bronx Chamber of Commerce website. Cole would love to speak with anyone that wants to discuss business, marketing, or just to say hello. He can be reached by email at [email protected] or by phone at 256-684-3700. ■
