1. INTRODUCTION:
During the period 2 March, 1983 to 9 March, 1983, a very low frequency E.M. (V.L.F.) survey was completed over claims in Sewell Township.
2. LOCATION;
The sixteen claims covered by this report are: P-6221^3 to P-622157 inclusive and P-628ol*7. The claims are located in central Sewell Township, Porcupine Mining Division, approximately 50 km southwest of Timmins.
3. PROPERTY GEOLOGY:
Very little outcrop is exposed on the property. Previous drilling by Noranda indicates numerous shear zones in highly altered intermediate volcanics on the north side of a gabbroic plug.
It. SURVEY SPECIFICATIONS:
The V.L.F. survey was performed along north-north-westerly oriented grid lines spaced ^00' apart. Station spacings along the grid lines were 100'.
A Geonics E.M.-16 V.L.F. instrument was employed for the survey. The instrument measures the in-phase and quadrature components of a vertical magnetic field as a percentage of the horizontal primary field with an accuracy of 1#. In-phase data was converted to degrees (dip angle). The transmitter station used for the survey was Seattle, Washington which operates at a frequency of 2^.8 kHz.
A total of 12.8 line miles of V.L.F. surveying was completed over the grid.
5. DATA PRESENTATION:
The in-phase components of the secondary E.M. field for the V.L.F. survey are plotted in profile form in Map l at a scale of l inch - 20 . Fraser filtered data are presented in contoured plan form in Map 2.
... 2
-2-
6. DISCUSSION OF RESULTS:
The V.L.F. data are characterized, in general, by low angle cross
overs and low magnitude Fraser filter anomalies.
The Fraser filter data have outlined three low amplitude zones
displaying strike extents of 1600 feet. These zones are located in claims
P-622152 and P-622153 and would appear to have causative sources at shallow
depth.
The remaining data over the claim group are weak single line
responses which may be related to overburden sources.
T. CONCLUSIONS:
The V.L.F. survey has defined three zones which may have bedrock
causative sources at shallow depth. Detailed geological surveys should be
carried out in the vicinity of the responses. Drill evaluation of the
responses may then be warranted.
Respectfully submitted,
B.J. Groves
