We consider it a privilege to be given the opportunity to partner with you in ministering God's love to your child.

It is our goal to help influence your child’s heart to love and serve the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe the best way we can accomplish this is to provide you with other adults in the life of your child that are saying the same things that you are.

Our goal is to create a community where your child is recognized and appreciated while taught about God.

Our classrooms are available to you 20 minutes prior to the beginning of service, and they close 20 minutes into the service.

Let us assure you that your child will be in a clean, safe, and caring environment. Our staff is trained to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of your child.

This handbook has been prepared to acquaint you with our procedures. We hope it will be helpful to you as a parent.

BEFORE COMING TO THE CLASSROOM...Make sure your child is in the correct classroom based on grade level.

2nd Graders VK118

3rd Graders VK119

4th - 5th Graders VK120

Make sure that your child is well. We cannot accept children who show signs of illness: runny nose, cough, fever, contagious rash, or other illnesses.

Please take your child to the restroom. This allows more time for your child to enjoy and benefit from group interaction.

Our program is structured around Small Groups

Our Small Groups consist of no more than 15 kids per leader. Our Small Groups also consist of the same leaders regularly. We do this in order to increase community and accountability for your child.

We are always looking for new team members

People who would like to take advantage of our varied opportunities to impact the lives of children, and expand the Kingdom of God at the same time.

IN THE CLASSROOM...

Our K-5th grade program is built on 3 Core Truths. Each lesson weaves around these core truths while focusing on a monthly virtue. Our 3 Core Truths are:

1. I Need to Make the Wise Choice

2. I Can Trust God No Matter What

3. I Should Treat Others The Way I Want To Be Treated

CORE VIRTUE, during the month we take a look at different virtues. In addition, we have a monthly memory verse for kids to memorize.

The model of the early church was for Christians to meet in small groups on a regular basis, along with getting together in large groups to receive teachings.

OUR FORMAT follows this example:• SMALL GROUP (15-20 min)• LARGE GROUP (25 min)• SMALL GROUP (30 min )

SMALL GROUP takes place when the service time starts. It’s a time for small groups to connect and catch up on the past week. We also have a short activity or discussion question that sets up our Bible lesson for the day. Many times, this time segment allows for accountability on last week’s information.

LARGE GROUP is our large group segment. This is where kids gather for worship and the Bible lesson for the weekend. This segment is jazzed up with high-energy teaching and modern worship.

WHAT TO EXPECT...3 CORE TRUTHS

SMALL GROUP sends kids back to their Small Groups where they unpack the information shared during the lesson segment. This segment varies from week to week with different activities. Some weeks there is a game, sometimes a Bible activity, craft, role playing, or discussion questions. Again, we believe that time spent in Small Groups is the most valuable time of the weekend.

As a church we value

Small Groups and

see them as the main

component for

discipleship and

fellowship. That is why

our Elementary

Program is centered

on Small Groups.

VK KID-CHECK: CHECKING IN/OUTWe have an automated check-in system that we use for Vineyard Kids ages birth-5th grade. If you are a first time guest, please see a Kid-Check attendant for assistance.

1. Enter your ten digit phone number, using the touch screen monitor, at any one of our six self check-in stations, CLICK SEARCH.

2. Click on your child's name as it appears on the screen. Check multiple children in at the same time, CLICK FINISH.

3. Your parent pick-up tag and your child's name tags will begin printing from the printer next to the check-in station.

• You will receive two name tags per child. • Place one name tag on the back of each child. • Take the second name tag and give it to the classroom teacher.

4. Keep your parent pick-up tag with you at all times. There's a paging number on your parent pick-up tag. Watch the monitors in the auditorium for your child's number. Go to your child's classroom immediately if it appears.

5. To pick up your child, there must be an adult, or student in 7th grade or older. Give the teacher the parent tag you received at check in. If the parent tag is lost, a parent with a driver’s license will be required for pick-up, with a coordinator present.

6. Parents are always welcome to stay and observe a class room. Please contact a coordinator to do so.

CHECKING IN FOR A 2ND SERVICE1. Please see a Kid-Check attendant to check in your child for a second

service. Please do not use a self check in station for this purpose.

2. No new name tags or parent tags will be issued. The original parent pick-up tag will be used for paging and for picking up your child. (Please do not go to your child's classroom. If your child sees you, it can cause separation anxiety after your child has already adjusted to the classroom.)

SCREENING PROCESSOur adult volunteers are required to complete a screening process. The screening process consists of:

• Criminal Background check

• Attendance of the VK Orientation Class

• Completed application

• Pastoral Staff approval

Our volunteers also attend various training opportunities to continually grow in their ability to impact children for God’s Kingdom.

Empowered FamiliesThis program is designed for those wanting to build strong families and connect with other parents in order to learn and grow in the parenting process.

Parenting ClassesAs a parent, you are your child’s first and most important teacher. But who is teaching you? Parenting classes are offered to teach biblical parenting skills and to provide parents with practical tools and support.
