Clinical/Counseling: Consulted with physicians and staff regarding

vocational-educational and adjustment issues; provided direct assessment and

counseling services for patients as part of an interdisciplinary medical

rehabilitation team; developed a counseling and adjustment intervention plan for

individual patients which was consistent with the patient's goals and the overall

rehabilitation team approach; coordinated and provided specific interventions such

as supportive emotional and psychological counseling individually and in groups.

Administrative/Supervisory: Developed and monitored objectives, budget,

and volume activities for the department; met with Rehabilitation Center

administrator and other departmental directors to discuss priorities, to problem

solve issues, and to develop broad initiatives; maintained inventory of testing and

reference materials and added new items as deemed appropriate to meet patient

needs; represented department in accreditation reviews (JCAH, CARF).

Program Development: Provided leadership to Rehabilitation Center program

committees and developed/revised specific program protocols; promoted staff

development and coordinated the Rehabilitation Medicine Lecture Series and the

Rehabilitation Center Bulletin; consulted on research and program evaluation

efforts of the Rehabilitation Center by reviewing data collection procedures and

reviewing and analyzing collected data.

Teaching: Provided clinical supervision and teaching for graduate students

and medical residents; provided consultation and information to physicians and

staff regarding issues such as rehabilitation legislation, Workers' Compensation,

Social Security, and rehabilitation technology; presented formal lectures for UW-

Madison undergraduate and graduate courses.

Community Outreach: Presented lectures and published manuscripts on

medical rehabilitation topics; contributed leadership to local and national

professional organizations; served as a consultant to a federally-funded research

project; maintained contact with community agencies to keep current on services

available for patients; provided specialized consultation to sheltered workshops,

state Division of Vocational Rehabilitation offices, and other rehabilitation

agencies.

Responsibilities: Group leader for Elderhostel, an educational travel program for

Americans over 60. Responsibilities for the coordination of three-week Elderhostel

program in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark included making local arrangement;

supervising the smooth operation of the educational and travel components of the

program; trouble-shooting problems in arrangements and accommodations; instructing

the Elderhostel participants regarding sights and experiences during the program

travels; and translating during lectures, site visits, and other events.
