WHAT ARE SHAPES
A shape is a geometrical figure tat can be described with
mathematics.
For example , two dimensional shapes like circle will fit
inside of a flat plane.
Three dimensional like cubes will not fit inside of a plane
, because they are not flat.

2-DIMENSIONAL SHAPES
These are 2D shapes or flat plane . There sides are made of straight or curved lines.
They have fixed number of lines. Plane figures are called polygons .
Triangles , squares and rectangles are example of 2D shapes.

PROPERTIES OF 2D SHAPES
Two-dimensional shapes are planer . In case of a coordinate
system of more than two dimensions , then a 2D shape would
still depend on two coordinate directions.
2D shapes include the square , the triangle , the rectangle etc.
To understand it more easily you can say that 2D shapes do not
have prominrnt or rugged parts . For example , speaking 2D
you would have a square , whereas 3D shape have a cube.

THREE DIMENTIONAL
SHAPESA 3D shape is a solid
which encloses a volume ,
and has length breadth and
height

PROPERTIES OF 3D SHAPES
Three-dimensional have four properties that apart from
two-dimensional shapes : face , vertices , edges and
volume . These property not only allow you to determine
whether the shape is two-dimensional or three-
dimensional , but also which three-dimensional shape it is
.

FACES OF A CUBEA part of shape that is flat
or curved.
A cube has six faces.

Edges of a cube
Line where two faces
meet.
A cube has 12 edges.

Vertices of a cube
A place where two faces
meet.
A cube has 12 vertices

Difference between 2D and 3D
shapes
2D shapes 3D SHAPES
2D is flat using the X and Y
(horizontal and vertical) axis the
image have only two dimension
and if turned to the side becomes
a line
3D add Z dimensions.
The third dimensions allows for
rotation and depth.
It’s essential the difference
between a painting and
sculpture.

Nets for building 3D shapes
In order to understand three dimensional shapes objects
more closely , we try to form these objects from their nets.
A net for a three dimensional shape is nothing but a sort of
skelton - outline in 2-dimension which , when folded ,
results in three dimensional shape.
