Structure & Functions of The Eye

Functions of The Eye Cornea: tough, clear structure, which lets light enter the eye and

bend light.

Lens: focuses light, is attached to muscles which contract and relax to change its shape in response to the need for clarity.

Iris: the part of the eye that gives the eye its color.

Optic nerve: bundle of retinal fibers that exists on the back of the eye and transports electrical impulses to the brain where they are interpreted in the primary visual cortex.

Functions of The Eye Optic nerve: bundle of retinal fibers that exists

on the back of the eye and transports electrical impulses to the brain where they are interpreted in the primary visual cortex.

Macula: central part of the retina; has the largest concentration of cone cells.

Retina: contains the rod and cone cells which convert light into electrical impulses.
