Introduction

J2EE Engine Visual Administrator is a graphical user interface (GUI) that enables administration of the whole cluster all cluster elements and all modules running on them It provides remote monitoring and management of managers services libraries and interfaces working on each element in a single GUI

Features

Visual Administrator includes functions for

1) Obtaining general information about a service manager interface or library (for example its name group and so on)

2) Logging on to the J2EE Engine via the Visual Administrator tool

3) Administrating and changing the properties either specific or common for each service or manager

Configuring the global properties

4) Runtime administration and control

Accessing the Cluster Configuration

1) Choose the Global Configuration tab

2) If you want to configure the server process on the cluster choose the Server tab

3) If you want to configure the dispatcherrsquos element configurations on the cluster choose

the Dispatcher tab

4) To access the managers expand Kernel

5) To access the services expand Services Manage the chosen component

Starting Visual Administrator

1) Go to Server Installed path ie

Driveusrsapltsystem idgtltsystem instancegtJ2EEadmin

2) Choose gobat (batch file) and start it (double click)

3) Under Global Server Configuration choose ltServeridgt

This will give the Information about the Dispatcher Instance and Server Instance

Finding the Port Number

We can find the engine Port number in Folder Structure

As per above example Instance number is 01

Port number = 50000 + 100 Instance number + Port Index

Here

Port number = 50000 + 100 01 + 04 = 50104

Activities in Visual Administrator

Cluster Manager

Choose ServerDispatcher Kernel Cluster Manager Properties tab

Modify the required property values depending on the tasks you want to perform

1) Use elementname to specify the name of the cluster element There are no restrictions

about the name

2) Use elementjoinPort to specify the port on which the server process listens for

connections

3) The port value must not be greater than 65535 less than 1024 or a ldquowell knownrdquo port This

property is available only on server processes

4) Choose save Properties to save your changes and restart the cluster node

Thread Manager

Choose ServerDispatcher Kernel Thread Manager Properties tab

Thread Manager exists on both dispatcher and server nodes The configuration is very important for performance

Thread Manager displays thread properties which affects the performance of iviews

HTTP Provider

The global settings are maintained using the Global Configuration tab page

The Keep Alive Timeout parameter is globally maintained under

Global Configuration rarr Dispatcher rarr HTTP Provider

If you select the parameter you can maintain it in the Value field

You transfer the maintained value to the view by choosing Update

Once you have finished the value maintenance complete the maintenance with Save Properties A new input window now appears which offers you the option of transferring the settings to the nodes in the cluster

What ever the parameters that are set at the config tool ndash cluster tab ndash Global Dispatcher Configuration ndash services resembles at the visual admin tool

System Information

System Information is used to display the most important administrative information of an SAP Web AS Java

System Information is called using a browser

It can be called from any front end on which a browser is installed

It is called using the HTTP port of the SAP Web AS Java On the start page of the SAP Web AS Java there is a link to the System Information

Authentication as a system administrator is required to view this information

System Information displays general system information for the SAP Web AS Java and information about the individual instances of the SAP Web AS Java To login into System Information

Security Provider

To display the active user store select a Server in the Visual Administrator

In the security Provider service select Runtime rarr User Management and choose Manage Security Stores

If Activate User Store is inactive for a user store this means that the user store that you have just chosen is already active If you want to use UDDI instead of the default user store UME you can use the described method to change this by choosing Activate User Store for the UDDI user store

Go to Server ndash Services ndash Security Provider ndash Runtime ndash User Management ndash Manage Security Stores

HTTP Provider

The global settings are maintained using the Global Configuration tab page

The Keep Alive Timeout parameter is globally maintained under

Global Configuration rarr Dispatcher rarr HTTP Provider

If you select the parameter you can maintain it in the Value field

You transfer the maintained value to the view by choosing Update

Once you have finished the value maintenance complete the maintenance with Save Properties A new input window now appears which offers you the option of transferring the settings to the nodes in the cluster

System Information

System Information is used to display the most important administrative information of an SAP Web AS Java

System Information is called using a browser
