Uncover more at Bath

Students’ UnionVisit our award winning Students’ Union with shop, cafés, pub and radio station (grid reference: D4) – try the crêpes, they’re amazing! We’re proud that our SU has won a Gold ‘Best Bar None’ award, and was voted one of the top six SU venues across the country.

StudyOur Library is open 24/7 (grid ref: D4) and offers over 1,500 study spaces and 500 PCs across five floors with quiet, silent and group work areas and dedicated subject librarians for all our academic departments. We have four Learning Commons across the University, which are open-plan study areas for students. Most Learning Commons also have study rooms available for individual or group work.

Sports Don’t miss out on seeing our 50m Olympic legacy pool, newly refurbished gym and fitness centre, archery fields, running track and more at the Sports Training Village! (Grid ref: E3)

ArtsPop in and check out our arts building ‘The Edge’ (grid ref: E3) which has a double height gallery space, 220 seat theatre, studio theatre, and dance and music studios! Visit edgearts.com for details of upcoming exhibitions, events and workshops.

CampusWe are one of the safest campus sites in the UK and the first university in the country to win a national police-approved security award. Our campus is nestled in beautiful woodlands, and is not far from the hidden gem Sham Castle on the Bath Skyline walk – perfect for quiet escape: www.nationaltrust.org.uk/bath-skyline

Finished your campus tour? Now discover the cityJust hop on the bus (Bath UniBus U1) to get into the city centre within ten minutes, or grab a taxi at the taxi rank (grid reference: E3).

Or you can take a 30 minute walk down Bathwick Hill, with gorgeous views of Bath’s famous Georgian terraces. Once you’re at the bottom of the hill, turn left onto Pulteney Road and then right onto North Parade.

Uni in the City We have a brand new learning zone right in the city centre: The Virgil Building. In addition to Careers and Student Services help, it has a huge Learning Commons with independent and group study space, an IT suite and training rooms, as well as a café. Get the bus down to the train station then head up Manvers Street – it’s on the right, you can’t miss it!

Discover the city Bath is the UK's only entire city designated a UNESCO World Heritage site, so take some time to wander the lanes to discover its beautiful stone buildings and independent shops, as well as the Southgate shopping centre. In addition to the famous Roman Baths, the city is also host to many museums, galleries, restaurants, cafés and live music bars. You could also spend a relaxing afternoon in the thermae spa or simply take a long lunch on the banks of the River Avon.

1. Start your tour at the main University bus stop.

2. Walk up the steps to the Parade. On your right you’ll see our Student Centre, home to the Students’ Union offices, The Plug Bar and The Tub Nightclub. This building is open 8am til late, so you can pop in and see our award winning SU.

3. Walk along the Parade to the Library, the centre of campus. You are very welcome to look around any weekday between 9am to 9pm, except during our exam periods of January and May.

4. Cross the Parade and go down the steps opposite the Library to see the lake. This is a great spot to relax and eat your lunch if the weather is good! You can also access the Fountain Canteen from here.

5. Go back up the steps and turn left down the Parade and you’ll come to 4W on your left, the building that houses our Student Services Centre. Our students can get help with their finances and disability issues, as well as tailored advice for international students. Next to Student Services is the 4W Café. On your right hand-side you will see our on campus supermarket, post office, and banking facilities.

6. Continue straight ahead and down the walk way at the far end of which you will reach 10W, our home for Psychology. Feel free to take a look inside. Across the car park you can see Polden Corner which includes our Polden accommodation and Café at Polden.

7. Back outside, return up the slope but take the first left over the bridge and go back into Wessex House using the doors on the other side of the road. Turn left once you’re inside and go straight to exit Wessex House. Keep going until you meet the road. Turn left and walk down the road to see some of our student accommodation.

8. Turn around and continue back along the road. Turn right to visit the Chancellors’ Building and take a look at some of the teaching spaces on offer.

9. Re-join the road and then Eastwood is on your left. Continue along the road which bends to the right. Woodland Court is on your left.

10. Continue along to our student accommodation, The Quads. 708 en-suite rooms across five buildings make up this part catered complex.

11. Turn back towards the road, before turning left to walk behind The Quads and the Lime Tree.

12. Continue straight ahead, walking past the East Car Park towards The Edge, our arts building. Pop in for a coffee and take a look at the latest exhibition in our gallery.

13. Continue around the corner and you will find the Sports Training Village with its fantastic facilities including the 50m Olympic legacy pool and newly expanded gym.

14. Your self-guided tour finishes here! If you have any more questions please visit one of our Admissions Offices (see directions overleaf).
