Held at the ASB Showgrounds, Auckland from the 21-23 June 2015 the country’s largest event for the building, design, construction and safety industry has been called an amazing success by both visitors and exhibitors.

Attracting more than 300 exhibiting companies across a range of industries and attendance of 6,222 visitors, it’s been one of the most successful events ever across it’s 30 year history. We are pleased to have been inundated with feedback that the show delivered a lot more new products and innovations than prior shows - a mix of kiwi made and/or internationally sourced.

From 2 story houses and prefabricated structures, to the latest in drug detection services and updates on the new Health & Safety reform bill there was something for everyone. Seminars and Features: If you’re a builder you really

need to attend day 1 on Sunday to hear from the

Registered Master Builders about how to best prepare

your business given the growing demand for build

services in Auckland. Many builders can find it tough

navigating increases in material costs and extra labour.

It’s not just about capability with your builder’s tool belt,

the RMBA arms builders with industry leading business

tool belts.

Monday sees a switch to more Architecture and Design

specific seminars. designex is hosting award winning (NZ

born) architect Ian Moore with a focus on “Residensity. ”

With the need to house an increasing population there

is the choice of continued suburban sprawl or creating

higher density within urban centres, close to transport

and infrastructure, with the traditional benefits of living

in the centre of a city. Ian Moore will discuss the work

of his practice in this context, including adaptive re-use,

infill buildings and urban renewal of brown field sites

within the city.

Simon Harrison Auckland Design Manual Program

Leader of Auckland Council will also talk about the

exploration of tactics to unlocking housing density in

Auckland suburbs.

Pamela Bell CEO of Prefab NZ will host a panel of

speakers both in the seminar room and the interactive

design and build innovation feature on the floor of the

show. “Digital fabricated housing in action.” as Pamela

explains, “Prefabrication can remove $25-40K off each

home which is one of the reasons why offsite construction

is important in the concept of delivering future affordable

housing. “

IQ Container Homes goes one step further with a fully

kitted container home next door. Brenda Kelly Director is

offering either of her 40’ container models, fully kitted out

with innovative furniture and energy efficient appliances

(excluding foundations, consents and delivery) for

<$100K. These models include rainwater harvesting and

a photovoltaic (solar) system.

And if affordable housing is what Auckland needs then the

industry has a chance to hear from Labour Spokesperson for

Housing Phil Twyford, opening the event Sunday morning at

9am.
