I NUTRITION NOTES 1 Visiting Professorship in Nutrition National Dairy Council announces its annual Visiting Professorship in Nutrition program. Schools of medicine are invited to submit com- petitive applicationsfor participation in this pro- gram in calendar year 1984. The purpose of this program is to enhance the present level of nutrition knowledge of physi- cians, medical students and other health care professionals by sponsoring visits by individ- uals with expertise in nutrition-related medical problems at medical schools throughout the country. The program is designed to create a greater awareness of the importance of nutri- tion to clinical medicine and other closely re- lated specialties, and also to foster greater in- terinstitutional and interdepartmental commu- nication of nutrition concepts and their application to modern health care. A list of "available" visiting professors from which the medical school can select has been developed. An honorarium of $500 and travel expenses up to $1000 are supported by the National Dairy Council. Applications for the cal- endar year 1984 program are due on or before October 1, 1983. A careful description of the triad of nutrition, health and aging is given and is discussed in detail in a section on specific nutrients in relation to aging. The conclud- ing section deals with government activi- ties and federally sponsored service programs for the aged. Measuring Change in Nutritional Status, World Health Organization, Geneva, 1983.
