Volume 7, Issue 1

Rabiul Awwal 1430 / March 2009

After the Ka’bah in Makkah and Musjidun Nabawi b in Madinah, Musjidul

Aqsa is the third most respected and honoured Musjid for a Muslim. Allah

Ta’ala has placed great barakah and blessings in and around this Musjid.

Hadhrat Abu Zar (RA) reports, “I asked Rasulullah b which Musjid was the

first to be built on earth.” He replied, “Musjidul Haraam” (in Makkah). I then

asked him, “Which was the second Musjid to be built.” He replied. “Al

Musjidul Aqsa.” I then asked, “What was the duration between the two.” He

replied, “Forty years.” Musjidul Aqsa was thereafter destroyed.

Hadhrat Ibraaheem (AS) and his son Hadhrat Ishaaq (AS) re-built Musjidul

Aqsa. It was again destroyed and after many years, Hadhrat Dawood (AS)

began constructing it but passed away before its completion. His son Hadhrat

Sulaymaan (AS) completed the building of this musjid. Many Jinnaat (a special

creation of Allah Ta’ala) assisted Hadhrat Sulaymaan (AS) in the building.

Hadhrat Sulayman (AS) passed away whilst Musjidul Aqsa was being built.

Allah Ta’ala had allowed his body to remain standing with the support of his

stick for an entire year so that the jinnaat would continue with the building

thinking that Hadhrat Sulaymaan (AS) was still alive and watching them.

On the occasion of Me’raaj, Rasulullah b was taken to Musjidul Aqsa by Allah

Ta’ala where he met all the Ambiyaa (AS). Thereafter, Allah Ta’ala

commanded Rasulullah b to lead the Ambiyaa (AS) in Salaah. Our Rasul b

was appointed as the Imaam of the Ambiyaa (AS) in Musjidul Aqsa.

The second Khalifa of Islam, Hadhrat Umar ibnul Khattaab (RA), commanded

the Sahaabah to conquer Jerusalem. The Rabbis (Jewish priests) refused to

hand over the keys of Al-Aqsa to any of the Sahaabah (RA). They insisted that

the leader of the Muslims should come himself and then only will they hand

over the keys to him. When they entered Jerusalem, Hadhrat Umar (RA) was

walking and his slave was riding his donkey. In this humble manner, Hadhrat

Umar (RA) came and received the keys for Musjidul Aqsa.

Unfortunately, after many years the Christians waged war against the

Muslims and took over Musjidul Aqsa. The great Mujaahid, Salaahud Deen

Ayoobi (RA) gathered a group of fighters and fought the Christian crusaders

until Allah Ta’ala made him victorious. Once again Musjidul Aqsa was

conquered by the Muslims.

We make dua that Allah Ta’ala free Musjidul Aqsa and bring it back into the

control of the Muslims.

Virtues of performing

Salaah in Musjidul-Aqsa

Hadhrat Anas bin Maalik [Radi

Allahu Anhu] relates that

Rasulullah [Sallallahu Alayhi

Wasallam] said,

“The salaah of a person in his

house earns him the reward

of a single salaah. Salaah in

the musjid of his tribe earns

him the reward of 25 salaah.

His salaah in the Musjid in

which the Friday salaah is

observed earns him the

reward of 500 salaah, his

salaah in Musjid ul-Aqsa has

a reward of 5 000 salaah, his

salaah in my Musjid

(Musjidun Nabawi) in

Madinah has a reward of

50,000 salaah and the salaah

in the Sacred Musjid in

Makkah has a reward of

100,000 salaah”.

Why is Musjidul Aqsa so important to me?Why is Musjidul Aqsa so important to me?Why is Musjidul Aqsa so important to me?Why is Musjidul Aqsa so important to me?

Musjidul Aqsa is: The first Qiblah of the Muslims.

The second house of Allah Ta'ala built on earth.

The place from where the miraculous journey of Mi’raaj

took place.

The place where hundreds of Messengers of Allah Ta'ala

are buried.

The place where thousands of Sahaabah are buried. A place which Allah Ta'ala Himself calls a 'blessed place'.

The only Musjid mentioned by name in the Holy Qur’aan,

apart from the Ka’bah.

The Qur’aan mentions it seventy times directly and indirectly.

The place where angels have descended with Allah Ta'ala's message .

The only place on earth where all the Messengers of Allah Ta’ala performed salaah at the same time, led

by Rasulullah .b

Musjidul-Aqsa – The 1st Qibla Hadhrat Abdullah bin Umar narrates, “We Performed Salaah with Rasulullah b facing Al-Quds for sixteen or seventeen months. Then Allah Ta'ala ordered him to turn his face towards the Ka'bah (in Makkah).

Musjidul Aqsa- The second house of Allah Ta'ala Hadhrat Abu Zar reported that he asked Rasulullah ,b “Which Musjid was built 1st on earth”? Rasulullah

b replied, “The Sacred Musjid of Makkah”. Hadhrat Abu Zar again asked, “Which was next?” Rasulullah b said, “Musjidul Aqsa”. Abu Zar further asked “How long was the period between the building of the two Masaajid?” Rasulullah b said, “40 years. Apart from these, offer your Salaah anywhere when it is time for salaah, although it is best to perform your salaah in these Masaajid.”

The blessed land of Musjidul-Aqsa Zaid ibn Thaabit reports that Rasulullah b said, “How blessed is Sham (Palestine)”! The Sahaabah who were sitting around him asked: “Why is that”? Rasulullah b replied, “I see the angels of Allah Ta'ala spreading their wings over Sham (Palestine)”.

Ibn Abbas added. “The Prophets of Allah Ta’ala lived there. There is not a single inch in Al-Quds (Jerusalem) where a Nabi of Allah Ta'ala has not performed salaah or an angel has not stood”. [Tirmidhi]

The importance of donating to Musjidul-Aqsa Abdullah ibn Umar relates, I asked Rasulullah b, “Tell us the law about (visiting) Baytul-Maqdis (Musjidul Aqsa).” Rasulullah b said, “Go and perform salaah there. If you cannot visit and perform salaah there, then send some oil to be used in the lamps (of the Musjid).” [Bukhaari].

The virtues of wearing Ihraam from Musjidul-Aqsa Ummul-Mu'minin, Umme Salmah , relates that Rasulullah b said, “If anyone puts ihraam for Haj or Umrah from Musjidul-Aqsa and then proceeds for Umrah, his past and future sins will be forgiven.”

Major events to occur in Al-Aqsa before Qiyaamah Mujamma ibnul-Haarith narrates that Rasulullah b said, “Ibn Maryam (Isa) will kill Dajjaal (the Anti-

Christ) at the door of Ludd (a town in Palestine).”

Maymunah bint Sa'ad reports that she asked Rasulullah b, “Oh Messenger of Allah, tell us something about Al-Quds (Jerusalem).” Rasulullah b replied, “It is the land where mankind will be raised (Hashar) and gathered (Mahshar).”

Musjidul-Aqsa – Liberation of Musjidul-Aqsa Prophesied Shaddad ibnul Aws reports that Rasulullah b said, “Al-Shaam (Palestine) will be conquered and Al-Quds (Jerusalem) will be conquered and you or your sons will be Imaams there, if Allah Ta'ala wills”.

Why I love attending Madrasah?

I love attending to Madrasah because it

is the right path of Islaam. On my way

to madrassah I feel proud to be a

Muslim dressed in my Islaamic attire. I

learn so much more about my religion

from my Mu’allimah.

We learn different duas and surahs.

There are so many things to learn in our

Deen that the two hours at madrasah is

not enough. I love to perform my salaah

which I learnt at madrassah because I

receive so much blessings from Allah

Ta’ala. I feel so pure in my heart when I

am in the Madrasah that it encourages

me to learn more.

At Madrasah we learnt to recite the

Qur’aan which is a great aim in my life.

We also learn how to strengthen our

Imaan so that we can fight the evil

Shyataan.

I love to attend my Madrasah.

Most Respected Parents

Assalaamu alykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu

Our theme for this term is Al-Aqsa.

Rasulullah b has mentioned in a Hadith that the Muslim

Ummah is like one body. If the eye pains, the entire body

pains and if the head aches, the entire body aches. While our

brothers and sisters experience suffering in Palestine, we

must educate our children of the role that they must playin

alleviating the hardships of their brethren. We may be

thousands of miles away from them but our feelings and duas

for them must always be on the increase.

It is our compulsory duty to assist our ailing brothers and

sisters in every part of the world in whichever way possible.

The following are some way in which we can be of assistance;

1. Turn to Allah Ta’ala with sincere taubah and istighfaar.

2. Abstain from all sins. Generally it is because of our sins

that the punishment of Allah Ta’ala descends.

3. Contribute some percentage of our earnings towards

the affected people of Palestine. Make our children

also contribute some part of their savings towards this

cause.

4. Educate ourselves and our children about Musjidul

Aqsa and what it means to us as Muslims.

5. Make sincere dua to Allah Ta’ala to free the Muslims

from all the cruelty upon them and to free Musjidul

Aqsa. The dua of a Muslim for his brother in his

absence is most readily accepted.

Palestinians live in a country ruled by Jews who treat them like animals and believe that they have no rights.

Their children cannot easily go to school and madrasah because either the roads are blocked or the schools

are closed, destroyed or it’s too dangerous to walk alone in the streets.

They live in small, cramped houses in refugee camps because their original homes were destroyed.

They have no parks, gardens or sport fields and have to play in the narrow, filthy alleys of the refugee camps.

They can only get medical attention if the Israeli soldiers allow them through the roadblocks. Many little chil-

dren have died because they were not allowed through the roadblocks.

They are afraid to leave their homes because they can get shot, injured or killed by Israeli soldiers.

They are always scared and worried. They cannot make any plans as they don’t know what the next day will

be like.

A single Salaah in Musjid ul-Aqsa has a reward

of 5 000 salaah

Most beloved Children

Assalamu alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu.

The first term has come to an end and so has the warm weather. The holidays

are at our doorstep and I’m sure we’ve all worked hard in the first term. May

Allah Ta’ala accept us all for His Deen. Aameen.

Our theme for this month is Al-Aqsa. Everyone must have heard of the terrible

killings that took place in Palestine at the beginning of this year. Thousands of

Muslims have been killed and many thousands were left homeless.

Our feelings and sympathies go out to the Palestinians. Palestine is the sacred

land of the Muslims. Musjidul Aqsa is that musjid where Rasulullah b lead all

the Ambiyaa (AS) in salaah. Allah Ta’ala had appointed him the Imaamul Ambi-

yaa (leader of the Ambiyaa) in this land. It was from this musjid that Allah Ta’ala

had taken him up into the heavens. Thousands of Ambiyaa (AS) are buried in

this land. Approximately 4000 Sahaabah (RA) are buried here. All of this has

been stolen away from us.

We cannot just sit back and allow all of this to happen in front of our eyes. We

all have to make sincere dua to Allah Ta’ala to assist our Muslim brothers and

sisters in Palestine and free them from all hardships and difficulty.

May Allah Ta’ala assist our brothers and sisters in Palestine and may He show us

the day when Musjidul Aqsa will be freed from the Israelis and return to the

control of the Muslims. Aameen.

Our last theme was “Qurbaani”. Masha Allah to all those who participated. May

Allah Ta’ala accept your efforts and reward you abundantly. Aameen.
