OCTOBER 8, 2017 PAGE 3
O
from the Pastor’s Desk...
Popular Presenter, Mr. Marty Dybicz, returns to the Parish Family Center
Wednesday, October 11, at 7:15 p.m.
for the first of a series of
monthly discussion sessions on
Why We’re Catholic …
based on Trent Horn’s easy-to-read book
by the same name which was distributed last weekend.
Hopefully you were able to obtain a copy.
Even if you don’t have the book, you are still most
welcome to attend. We believe you will find the discussion
easy to follow even without the benefit of having read the
material ahead of time.
October 11’s session will be a discussion of Chapter 1
(“Why We Believe in Truth”) and Chapter 2 (“Why We
Believe in Science”). We hope you will be able to join us.
There is no sign-up. Just show up … and enjoy!
See you there!
May we never cease giving thanks to God
for His wonderful gift of Faith.
On the Road to Sainthood via the home of Rhoda Wise, Canton, OH, October 14
Last call … thinking of joining the travelers?? Need a
ride?? Willing to drive and take passengers??? How
many?? We’re leaving the church parking lot near the
PFC between 10:30 and 10:45 a.m.
Please call the Parish Office (216.382.7601) by this
coming Wednesday to reserve a spot for yourself and any
fellow travelers. Don’t forget to tell us if you are driving
and can take others along. While there is no charge for
the tour, we ask you to consider a small donation to help
defray the cost of the van. Following the tour, we will
travel the 30 minutes to Hartville Kitchen for lunch.
Estimated return time to the church parking lot is 5 p.m.
Anyone over 55 may attend; however if space is limited,
priority will be given to members. You must be able to
get yourself to and from the church. Please let us know
of any mobility issues.
My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I hope and pray that you will take
advantage of the wonderful opportunity
that we have at the parish next weekend.
Beginning after the 12:10 Mass on Friday
we will have Adoration of the Blessed
Sacrament all day and night until the
solemn closing on Sunday at 6:00 p.m.
Please stop in the church during this time
and make a Holy Hour. Spend an hour
with the Lord and express your thoughts
and prayers. Let Him speak to your
heart. Security will be present during the
nighttime hours.
As is our custom, we invite all parish organizations to
consider spending at least one hour with Our Blessed Lord
in Adoration. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
and Altar Servers are expected to be part of the procession
for the Closing ceremonies.
Priests and deacons from the diocese will join us for the
Solemn Closing on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. The Closing will
include Evening Prayer, a Procession, and Benediction of
the Blessed Sacrament. We are blessed to have Fr. John
Chrysostom, O.P. as homilist. You will remember that
Father preached during Holy Week this past year.
Did you sign up
to spend an hour with Our Lord in Adoration?
The most difficult times to fill are those from midnight
until 5 a.m. Perhaps some of you would consider praying
during those nighttime hours. All adoration takes place in
the Church; and we will provide security throuoghout the
night. For your convenience, there is a sign-up sheet
outside of the Chapel, or you can stop by the Parish Office
and select the day(s) and time(s) most convenient for you.
Special Invitation
All children of the parish who received their First Holy
Communion last year are encouraged to come (dressed in
their First Communion clothes if they still fit) and be a part
of the procession. Those children should gather in the
vestibule of the Church around 5:30 p.m.
Let us continue to keep the all those affected by recent
hurricanes, earthquakes, and especially the people of Las
Vegas, NV in our prayers.
May God’s blessings be yours this week. Fr.Ireland

Readings for the Week...
MARIAN MOVEMENT OF PRIESTS
Thursday evening at 7 o’clock in the Chapel to pray for
vocations to the priesthood and for those who are already
ordained. All are welcome.
In our hectic times, both Saint John
Paul II and Saint Teresa of Calcutta
knew that the quickest way to be
transformed into a saint was through a
relationship with Our Blessed Mother.
Join us, beginning on October 12 from 7 to 8:30 p.m., as
we begin preparation for Marian Consecration. For six
weeks we’ll read about and reflect on great Marian saints,
drawing closer to the Heart of Jesus through Mary. In
our weekly meetings, we’ll share our insights and watch
a short video by popular author and speaker, Fr. Michael
Gaitley, who brings our individual reflections and group
experience into a clear and livable focus.
Our meetings will alternate between Saint Clare and
Sacred Heart of Jesus Parishes, beginning on Thursday,
October 12, in the Harvest Room at Saint Clare.
Gatherings at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish will be in the
PFC.
