Visit Linking children and youth suspected of having

autism to resources that enrich their development prior to a diagnostic evaluation!

OWCA provides diagnostic evaluations for children and youth who are suspected of being on the Autism Spectrum. In response to the long wait times at local diagnostic centers including our own, our diagnostic evaluations will now consist of 4 visits. The

first of these visits is our pre-diagnostic care coordination visit. During this visit a family works with our care coordinator to screen children and youth for ASD, obtain an

individual and family medical history, identify caregiver concerns and most importantly begin linking children and youth to therapeutic and/or educational interventions.

Components of the Pre-diagnostic Care Coordination Visit

1. Completion of assessments and screens2. 1:1 Care Coordination Visit to identify concerns and challenges3. Referrals for therapeutic supports

The information obtained at this visit will expedite the diagnostic evaluation visits and make key support figures for that child or youth aware of possible

developmental differences that will be evaluated. Our overall goal is to start linking children and youth to resources that enrich their development and

behavior as early as possible!

Current wait time for Pre-diagnostic care coordination visits are 1 month and Diagnostic evaluation visits are 7-8 months. These wait times may vary and

every attempt to schedule earlier will be made.
