Your presenters Judy Kalus, Product Manager
Judy Kalus is a 15 year veteran of the mailing industry and was instrumental in the start-up
of the industry’s first web-based address hygiene service. In 2008, TrackMyMail™ was
acquired by Pitney Bowes, and Judy’s role expanded to support tracking and address
services across multiple Pitney Bowes divisions. Judy is very active in various MTAC
committees and has been a speaker or panelist in a variety of postal and direct marketing
events, including Mailcom, the Direct Marketing Association (DMA) Annual Conference,
and National Postal Forum.
Paul Kovlakas, Address Quality & Intelligent Mail
Paul began his career with Pitney Bowes in 1990 in Product Engineering, then transitioned
into Product Management, where he was responsible for the Addressing Software,
Equipment and Services. Paul also served in the Mail Services organization before
returning to Global Product Line Management, where he launched pbSmartPostage, the
first entirely cloud based PC Postage mailing and shipping solution in the industry. Paul
Kovlakas currently represents Pitney Bowes on its Postal Relations team as Director of
Address Quality and Intelligent Mail Initiatives.

required for Automation Discounts.
Beginning in January 2014, the USPS will
require mailers receiving automation discounts
to be ‘Full Service’ compliant.

Package Visibility enabled by Impb™
• Package Visibility is significantly improved with the rollout of the Intelligent
Mail® Package Barcode (or IMpb)
– Allows the USPS® to track packages much like private carriers
(FedEx®, UPS®)
– Replaces USPS Delivery Confirmation (with USPS Tracking)
– A Barcode is included on every package
– Provides customers full visibility to package tracking information while
the parcel is in the system
• USPS continues to increase the number of scan events on every item
– Domestic items typically receive the following types of events, such as
Time in Transit, Out for Delivery and final Delivery or Notice of Left
– This will allow the USPS to better monitor and ultimately improve transit
times across their network

As of January 2013, IMpb required on all First-Class®
Package Services, Parcel Select, Parcel Select Light
Weight, Bound Printed Matter, Media Mail and Library
Mail Parcels in order to claim Presort and entry pricing.
Proposal to require IMpb on all Commercial Parcels
beginning in January 2014, with non-compliant
assessment fees to begin in July 2014.
