WELCOME

Welcome to Alexandria Little League and Virginia District 4, and Historic Simpson

Field, which will play host to the 2018 Little League Junior Baseball Division

Virginia State Tournament.

Simpson Field has played host to numerous tournaments, is the home field for the

T.C. Williams Titans, the Republican Congressional Baseball Team, and a long time

home of Alexandria Little League. To say the least, we are excited to welcome you

to Alexandria, and to host the 2018 State Tournament.

Now that you have won your District Tournament, what do you do? First

CELEBRATE! Secondly read through this packet and complete all necessary forms

and materials.

Also, PLAN. During your visit we hope you will take some time to enjoy the many

sights and sounds of Northern Virginia, and the Washington D.C. area. It has

something to offer everyone: historical sites, entertainment, THE STANLEY CUP!!,

and superb dining. If you do wish to visit downtown Washington, we suggest you

consider taking Metro Rail or other public transportation.

TOURNAMENT PLAY COMMENCES @ Simpson & Mann Fields

TOURNAMENT REQUIREMENTS

Each manager is required to bring the following documents to the tournament as per State Standards:

Affidavit, Approved Waivers, Tournament Player Verification Documents, Medical releases, and your

League boundary map. This is required for your team to participate in the tournament. Please also bring

your District Championship Flag with you.

REGISTRATION

Registration will take place at Simpson Snack Shack. All teams must be registered by 4:00pm, Thursday,

July 5, 2018. Please let us know where your team is staying. Each team will be assigned a Host Family

who will be available to you during your stay to answer questions, give directions, and help make your

stay an enjoyable one.

OPENING CEREMONY/PICNIC The Opening Ceremony and Parade of Champions will begin promptly at 5:30pm, Thursday, July 5, at

SIMPSON FIELD, in Alexandria. It will be followed with a picnic at 6:30pm. PLEASE SEE BELOW,

for picnic details.

Please be sure to bring your District Championship flag to this event.

Join us for a delicious BBQ FEAST following the Opening Ceremony!

• Each team will receive complimentary tickets for your players, 2 coaches and manager as listed on your

affidavit.

• Extra tickets for family members may be purchased by filling out the form below. The cost is $10 for

adults and $8 for children under 12. Children 3 and under are free.

FIELD FACILITIES

Tournament games will begin on Friday, July 6, at 10am, at Simpson & Frank Mann Fields. There is a

concession stand and restrooms available. Handicap Accessible. Practice fields will be scheduled at the

Managers Meeting.

POLICIES AT SIMPSON FIELD

The Alexandria Little League Board of Directors would like everyone who visits our Park to have a safe

and enjoyable experience. Based on that premise the following rules will be enforced.

Please help assure us that everyone has a good time during the tournament by adhering to the rules at

Alexandria LL. We appreciate your support.

EQUIPMENT

Each team will furnish their own equipment. Alexandria Little League will cooperate in case of an

emergency. For any needs that you may have, there are several sporting goods stores in the area. Your

team host can provide you that information. Please note: Decals of any kind are not permitted on batting

helmets unless provided by the helmet manufacturer. Umpires will inspect all equipment prior to each

game.

PRACTICE FIELDS

Practice fields will be available at nearby Alexandria City fields.

Practice times and locations will be given out at the Manager’s Meeting.

PARKING

Simpson Field:

Parking is available on Monroe Avenue (parking is not allowed at the YMCA or

Aldi/CVS), its adjacent side streets, and behind Simpson on East Duncan Avenue.

Frank Mann Field:

Parking at Cora Kelly Elementary/Chick Armstrong Rec Center.

We ask that you please be respectful of all street signage, neighbors, and

businesses. Thank you!

SEATING AND CONCESSIONS

Bleacher seating is available at all fields. There is also ample room for lawn chairs at each field.

Concessions will be available for purchase throughout the tournament.

GAME SCHEDULE

The tournament will begin on Friday, July 6. In the event of rain or rain delay, the games will be

rescheduled by the Tournament Director.
