Violent Extremism is Alive and Fully Rooted in America! Renowned Leadership Speaker & Former White Supremacist Leader to Speak at UN Sponsored NYC Event  If you think you can identify violent extremists by the way they pray, the clothes they wear or the color of their skin, you are in for a shock. Even as viewers of the media, it’s easy to jump to conclusions that supports whatever belief systems and or prejudices we hold.   On September 22nd, 2016, one of Inc. Magazine ’s “Top Leadership Speakers,” Dov Baron, and former white supremacist leader, Tony McAleer, will be speaking together on the subject of deradicalizing violent extremists at a New York City Event sponsored by the United Nations and the New York State Department.  Tony McAleer’s life has been transformed and he is now the executive director of Life After Hate, a non­profit group that helps people leave racist and far­right organizations. He credits Dov Baron for his deradicalization.   Together, at this NYC event, they will expand on this topic by educating extremists and former extremists on “finding their own truth,” rather than simply relying on truths they were indoctrinated with.   Why are they addressing violent extremist groups on our own soil?  Because the hard truth is this: most violent extremism is home­grown.  It’s time we recognize this fact and start analyzing the psychological motives of the individuals within these groups rather than just  the acts they perform. Gaining understanding of the human dynamics of both “leaders” in extremist groups and the individuals who have left the groups can change everything in regards to a safer society.  Dov Baron will also be presenting a transformational process that teaches former extremists to return to their true identity and authentic beliefs.  Individuals come out of this program with the deep level of self­knowledge, skills, and tools needed to sincerely connect with others like themselves. This enables them to partner with community leaders, law enforcement, and the community at large. By giving them a way to see themselves and others in a new light, the rest of society gains a deeper understanding of why and how violent extremist groups exist. This life­changing process can, in turn, decrease the drivers of radicalization in communities targeted for recruitment and radicalization by violent extremists.   The result?   A new, healthy, and compassionate tapestry of society.
