HAND IN HAND INDIA VILLAGE UPLIFTMENT PROGRAMME
Please find enclosed the six-month report on the Village Upliftment Programme for Koneripatty Agraharam panchayat, made possible through a grant supported by Bona AB. Implementation for the project began in March 2016 and the activities conducted from March 2016 to August 2016 are detailed in the report below.
Achievements
List of activities during the last six months is given below Village Development Committee Formed
Four meetings conducted to involve the community in planning the activities to be implemented under VUP
Self Help Groups and Microfinance
Four Self Help Groups are functioning with 48 members
48 Self Help Group members were given basic capacity building training
Two veterinary camps conducted in which 1155 animals treated
Child Labour Elimination Project
56 children were enrolled into school.
40 awareness meetings conducted on child labour elimination
Two Children Rallies conducted on Right to Education Act
One Children Learning Centre established for school-going children to improve their learning skills/abilities.
Citizens’ Centre
One Citizens’ Centre established
348 people were given e-literacy training
36 people attended computer courses
15 awareness programs conducted on Govt welfare programme and RTI Health
67 health awareness meetings on basic health and personal hygiene conducted with total number of 1205 people benefitting
One free medical camp conducted for the general public with 177 people benefitting
One special (pediatric) camp conducted with 109 children benefitting
72 women undergone anemia screening test in which 18 women identified ane-mic

Environment
12 awareness campaigns conducted on environment protection & vermicom-posting
Four mass village cleaning camps conducted
15 kitchen garden units promoted
Six Azolla units promoted
Social Mapping and Survey
Hand in Hand India has carried out a survey to identify existing welfare services, problems and issues in the Panchayat. Through this exercise, Hand in Hand India was able to map the physical and population demographics of the community and chalked out a plan for address-ing the underlined issues most effectively.
The process began with a Door-to-Door survey and Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA). Key Findings of Survey
