Heard the latest buzz? LikeALittle.com is website that has recently ranked Cal Poly as one of the top schools to use this new online hit. Students go to the website and anonymously describe someone they saw that caught their eye. You first start by inputting the location in which you saw them, then you narrow it down by gender and hair color. Once you’ve completed that, its up to you to be as vague or descriptive as you’d like. The idea is to figure out who likes you. So…what do you think? Creepy? Cool? Check it out. Maybe someone wrote something about you…

ALBUM

8th album to date and The King of Limbs keeps the appreciative fans happy with a return to the modest tempo and melodic depth we are used to. Sonorous nooks and crannies are layered generously over every track and the result is yet another album to appreciate and think about. Though, the one change that has kept the innovation of Radiohead current is the transition from an analog feel to one that is digital.

As arguing beats and reverberating tones surround singer Thom Yorke, the album lulls the listener with its transient and somber cadence. “Bloom”and “Codex” keep the mood relatively calm with the expected lack of sing-along choruses and developing taste for electronically generated sounds. Following the up, “Feral” picks the beat up and runs with it allowing no room for lyrics. The mute track serves as a tricky transition to a song closer to the band’s root sound; “Giving Up The Ghost” interrupts with appreciable guitar support and is well complimented with “Little by Little”. “Lotus Flower” is the first song on the album to have a video made and it is arguably the most interesting with Yorke pulsating in time and shape with the both the harmony and melody. The harsh change from track 6 to 7, “Morning Mr. Magpie,” is a harder one to swallow. Smooth transitions are thrown to the wind and the mood is replaced angry and accusational commands to what would normally be a European bird.

The album ends far more calmly with “Separator” and concludes another work caked with the expected modern day Thom Yorke weirdness, strong musicianship, and confident exploration into a more digital realm. Recommended Listens: “Lotus Flower” & “Bloom”
