Village Hall News
The Old Committee Room
Since the opening of the Morrison Room, the ‘Old Committee Room’ has been used
as an informal storage area. The committee has decided to restore the room to its
former glory and to make it available as a small meeting room; redecorating and
refurbishment are under way. Residents wishing to hire the Old Committee Room
can do so at just £5 per hour. Please contact our Booking Clerk, Charlotte Newsome,
on 02476 544838 for further information or to make a booking.
The Village Hall Goes On-line
Want to keep up to date with what’s happening in in the Village Hall? Then please
log on to the new village website: http://binleywoodsparish.wordpress.com. And if
you sign-up by entering your e-mail address, you will receive an e-mail update every
time a new event or article is published.
New Heating System
Those of you that use the Village Hall in the winter, and at other times of the year,
will know that our current heating system is a tad unreliable. The hall is either
freezing cold or boiling hot and, no matter what the thermostat is set to, it seems
impossible to achieve a comfortable medium. It also costs an absolute fortune to run.
We have therefore decided to install a modern heating system that will also allow us
to have hot water in the kitchen and toilets, all controlled from a tamper-proof set of
room thermostats. We have obtained quotes for the work and are currently seeking
funding. We hope to install the new system during the summer holiday period.
Additional Disabled Persons Toilet
We are planning to install a toilet for ambulant disabled people at the front of the
Hall. The toilet will have its
own separate doorway off the
main entrance hall.
The new toilet is not designed
to accommodate wheelchair
users, who can continue to use
the disabled persons toilet at
the rear of the hall, but will be
useful for people with mobility
impairments and for those who
require more space than a
standard WC.
We hope to complete this work
alongside the new heating
system in the summer.
