After all, when was the last time any of us saw something like that? Miracles still do indeed happen, and maybe they are not as obvious as the Gospel story today, but Jesus’ mighty hand is still working in our world if we are looking. This Gospel today teaches us an important lesson in the person of Peter. Peter begins walk- ing on the water towards Jesus when he keeps his eyes on Christ, but when Peter gets distracted by the wind and waves, he begins to sink. Isn’t that true for us? When we begin to focus on the waves of our worries or problems, the wind of our anxie- ty and uncertainty, we too begin to sink below them. That is why like Peter, we too need to remember to focus not on the winds and waves of problems, worries or anxieties, but to keep our focus on Christ. If our focus is kept steady on the Lord, then we too begin to walk above the winds and waves raging in our lives by faith. That is the miracle the Lord works for us if we keep focused on Him. Not that he makes the waves and wind stop in our lives, but that like Peter he gives us the grace to overcome them through our faith in Him. Eyes on Jesus -Fr. “Receive, live, and share Christ” - from the CCASTA Mission Statement

The miracle of Jesus walking on water that we hear in the Gospel this weekend may seem like some-

thing we cannot really relate to,. After all, when was the last time any of us saw something like that? Miracles still do indeed happen, and maybe they are not as obvious as the Gospel story today, but Jesus’ mighty hand is still working in our world if we are looking. This Gospel today teaches us an important lesson in the person of Peter. Peter begins walk-ing on the water towards Jesus when he keeps his eyes on Christ, but when Peter gets distracted by the wind and waves, he begins to sink. Isn’t that true for us? When we begin to focus on the waves of our worries or problems, the wind of our anxie-ty and uncertainty, we too begin to sink below them.

LITTLE SISTERS OF THE POOR

The Little Sisters of the Poor were scheduled to make their annual visit to Ascension and St. Augustine Churches this weekend.

Due to the pandemic, this could not happen.

As the Sisters and staff continue to keep the Residents at St. Martin’s Home healthy and safe, their needs are greater than ever!

Your continued generosity in support of the care of the elderly is greatly appreciated and the Sisters hold in prayer everyone who is

making kindness and compassion priorities to ease the burdens throughout this trying time.

If you would like to contribute to the Little Sisters of the Poor, they are at Little Sisters of the Poor, 601 Maiden Choice Lane, Baltimore, MD 21228

UPDATE ON THE CONVERSATION ON RACISM

Thank you to all who participated in our Conversation on Racism, a three-part Zoom session sponsored by our CCASTA Social Action committee. In our final conversation this past Wednesday, we focused on our action plan going forward and brainstormed these topics:

How can we use the strength of our parish family to impact change and help end racism on the local, state, or national levels?

Is racism present at CCASTA? What have you observed or experienced? What should we do as a parish to address such racism? What can we do to make ourselves a more inclusive parish? Many ideas were presented and we are now forming a team that will review all of the proposed ac-

tions and create a strategy going forward. If you would like to be a mem-ber of that team, please contact Frank Stanitski at 443-831-2945

(call/text) or [email protected].

Special Needs Faith Formation is looking for teen mentors

Are you a teen, or do you know a teen, who is looking to make a difference? Are you ready to share your faith with others? Consider becoming a teen

mentor for the Special Needs Faith Formation program.

If you have any questions, please contact Michele Poligardo at (410) 796-2720 or [email protected].

Keeping everyone safe and healthy during Mass right now is a big priority and wearing face

masks is the best way to do that. Please make sure your face mask is being worn

properly by covering both your nose and mouth to protect both you and others.

Thank you for your efforts to keep everyone safe at CCASTA.

Thank you to our Men’s Club and Knights of Columbus

You may not know that our facility manager Mark moved to North Carolina the end of March, and our new manager does not begin till September. I want to express my appreciation to the Men’s Club and KOC who have really stepped up to help us while we are short one staff member. These generous men have moved furniture, put things together, moved offices, landscaping work, cleaned up the property and helped scrap the old HVAC units at the school. Thanks to the men of both these organizations for all their generous service to all of us.

-Fr. John
