Post Communion Hymn: I heard the voice1 I heard the voice of Jesus say, “Come unto Me and rest;lay down, O weary one, lay downyour head upon My breast.”I came to Jesus as I was,so weary, worn, and sad;I found in Him a resting place, and He has made me glad.

2 I heard the voice of Jesus say,“Behold, I freely givethe living water, thirsty one;stoop down and drink and live.”

I came to Jesus, and I drankof that life-giving stream;my thirst was quenched, my soul revived, and now I live in Him.

3 I heard the voice of Jesus say,“I am this dark world’s light;look unto Me, your morn shall rise, and all your days be bright.”I looked to Jesus, and I foundIn Him my star, my sun;and in that light of life I’ll walk‘till traveling days are done.

Prayer after Communion:[a moment of silence]

All Father of all,we give you thanks and praise, that when we were still far offyou met us in your Son and brought us home.

KyrieLord, have mercy.

All Lord, have mercy.Christ, have mercy.

All Christ, have mercy.Lord, have mercy.

All Lord, have mercy.

The Collect: O LORD God, who sees that we do not put our trust in any thing that we do: Mercifully grant that by your power we may be defended against all adversity; through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Song: You deserve the gloryYou deserve the glory and the honour LordWe lift our hands in worshipAs we lift Your holy nameYou deserve the glory and the honour LordWe lift our hands in worshipAs we lift Your holy name

For You are greatYou do miracles so greatThere is no one else like YouThere is no one else like You

New Testament Reading: 2 Corinthians 11:19-31For you gladly bear with fools, being wise yourselves! For you bear it if someone makes slaves of you, or devours you, or takes advantage of you, or puts on airs, or strikes you in the face. To my shame, I must say, we were too weak for that! But whatever anyone else dares to boast of—I am speaking as a fool—I also dare to boast of that. Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they offspring of Abraham? So am I. Are they servants of Christ? I am a better one—I am talking like a madman—with far greater labors, far more imprisonments, with countless beatings, and often near death. Five times I received at the hands of the Jews the forty lashes less one. Three times I was beaten with rods. Once I was stoned. Three times I was shipwrecked; a night and a day I was adrift at sea; on frequent journeys, in danger from rivers, danger from robbers, danger from my own people, danger from Gentiles, danger in the city, danger in the wilderness, danger at sea, danger from false brothers; in toil and hardship, through many a sleepless night, in hunger and thirst, often without food, in cold and exposure. And, apart from other things, there is the daily pressure on me of my anxiety for all the churches. Who is weak, and I am not weak? Who is made to fall, and I am not indignant? If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness. The God and Father of the Lord Jesus, he who is blessed forever, knows that I am not lying.

This is the word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

Gradual Song: Above allAbove all powers above all kingsAbove all nature and all created thingsAbove all wisdom and all the ways of manYou were here before the world beganAbove all kingdoms above all thronesAbove all wonders the world has ever knownAbove all wealth and treasures of the earthThere's no way to measureWhat You're worth

Crucified laid behind the stoneYou lived to die rejected and aloneLike a rose trampled on the groundYou took the fall and thought of meAbove all

The Gospel: St Luke 8:4-15Hear the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, according to Luke. All Glory to you O Lord. And when a great crowd was gathering and people from town after town came to him, he said in a parable, “A sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell along the path and was trampled underfoot, and the birds of the air devoured it. And some fell on the rock, and as it grew up, it withered away, because it had no moisture. And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up with it and choked it. And some fell into good soil and grew and yielded a hundredfold.” As he said these things, he called out, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”And when his disciples asked him what this parable meant, he said, “To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of God, but for others they are in parables, so that ‘seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.’ Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. The ones along the path are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved. And the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear the word, receive it with joy. But these have no root; they believe for a while, and in time of testing fall away. And as for what fell among the thorns, they are those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by the cares and riches and pleasures of life, and their fruit does not mature. As for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patience.Reader: This is the Gospel of the LordAll Praise to you, O Christ.

The Talk

The Creed We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God,eternally begotten of the Father,

Page 8: Web viewTim Hughes. I heard the voice – Turley Richards . What a faithful God – Dawn Critchley ... then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts,

- 8 -All We do not presume to come to this your table, O merciful Father,

trusting in our own righteousness, but in your manifold and great mercies. We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under your table. But you are the same Lord, whose nature is always to have mercy. Grant us therefore, gracious Lord, so to eat the flesh your dear Son Jesus Christ, and to drink his blood, that our sinful bodies may be made clean by his body and our souls washed through with his precious blood, and that we may evermore dwell in him, and he in us. Amen.

The Communion

Baptized persons who are communicant members of other Churches which subscribe to the doctrine of the Holy Trinity and are in good standing in their own Church are welcome to Communion. Come forward with faith, hope, and charity, discerning the Lord’s body.

Those who do not wish to receive communion are welcome to come forward for a blessing – you may indicate by crossing your arms over your chest at the altar rail.

- 7 -Hear us, merciful Father, we humbly pray, and grant that, by the power of your Holy Spirit,we receiving these gifts of your creation, this bread and this wine, according to your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ’s holy institution,in remembrance of his death and passion, may be partakers of his most blessed body and blood;who, in the same night that he was betrayed, took bread and gave you thanks; he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying:

Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you;do this in remembrance of me.

In the same way, after supper he took the cup and gave you thanks;he gave it to them, saying:

Drink this, all of you; this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins.Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.

All Amen.

[a moment of silence]

Let us pray. All Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy

kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

Agnus DeiAll Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world,

have mercy on us.

Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world, have mercy on us.

- 4 -God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,begotten, not made,of one Being with the Father;through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Maryand was made man.For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose againin accordance with the Scriptures;he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son,who with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Eucharistic Prayer The Lord be with you.

All And also with you.Lift up your hearts.

All We lift them to the Lord.Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

All It is right to give thanks and praise.Father, we give you thanks and praise through your beloved Son Jesus Christ, your living Word, through whom you have created all things;who was sent by you in your great goodness to be our Saviour.By the power of the Holy Spirit he took flesh;as your Son, born of the blessed Virgin,he lived on earth and went about among us; he opened wide his arms for us on the cross; he put an end to death by dying for us; and revealed the resurrection by rising to new life; so he fulfilled your will and won for you a holy people. Therefore with angels and archangels, and with all the company of heaven,we proclaim your great and glorious name, for ever praising you and saying:

All Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the

highest.Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

(we kneel to pray)

All glory be to you, our heavenly Father,who, in your tender mercy, gave your only Son our Saviour Jesus Christto suffer death upon the cross for our redemption;who made there by his one oblation of himself once offereda full, perfect and sufficient sacrifice, oblation and satisfactionfor the sins of the whole world;

he instituted, and in his holy gospel commanded us to continue,a perpetual memory of his precious death until he comes again.
