Teaching Philosophy

Physical Education can be the start to helping students’ lives become

healthier and more active. My goal as a physical education teacher is to provide the

opportunities to learn about how to stay healthy and provide them with activities

that they can do throughout their whole life. Physical education to me is just like

any other subject in school, but this not only helps your brain, but also your body. I

want to provide students with a fun and safe environment. I want them to be able to

come into the gym and have a good time, while also learning about fitness and

wellness along with learning about themselves. I want the students to be able to

come into the gym and feel safe physically, emotionally, and socially

I want my students to be challenged in my class, but also find success. I think

it is very important to be challenged and be pushed to overcome that challenge.

This is something they can take with them throughout their lifetime. Everyone has

many different challenges and obstacles in front of them, and they will come in

many different forms. If they can learn to work at these challenges and overcome

them, I believe that those challenges ahead of them won’t be as difficult to

overcome. I like to go by the quote, “failure is not an option.” Although some people

take things as failing, I take them as what did I learn from that mistake or “failure”,

what can I do better next time, or what can I work on? I hope to teach my students

that any mistake or so-called “failure” has an upside and can be learned from.
