Lab Ambassador Duties (that’s you!)● If no one is at the entrance to let you in when you arrive, call CC (312) 625-5467● Confirm your arrival at Lab by calling or texting CC (312) 625-5467

○ The QR Code Sheet (If they don’t, kindly ask for it. If they don’t have it, Lead will)○ There is one size Large Volunteer T-Shirt at each Lab

■ Your Lead should be bringing a Small, Medium, Large, and X Large - in case the Large doesn't fit or more than one volunteer needs a Large- but this is not guaranteed. If there is not a shirt at the Lab that fits, we thank you in advance for your flexibility and understanding with this matter.

■ If you receive a T-shirt at a previous volunteer shift, please re-wear it to this Lab.● Ask Host where to place/how to distribute:

● Assist Host with other duties if needed● If you or a guest have a complaint/need that you personally cannot solve, report it to:

○ Lead. If Lead is unavailable, report it to Host. if Host is unavailable, call CC (312) 625-5467. Lab Lead Duties

● Arrive 15 minutes before Lab starts and stay for at least 30 minutes● Handle any escalated incidents/customer service issues● Assist Host/Ambassadors with other duties as needed● Read Welcome Message at start of Lab. Note: Ambassador reads Message if Lead is unavailable● Read Closing Message at end of Lab. Note: Ambassador reads Message if Lead is unavailable

CIW Lab: Guest Check-in Instructions, Welcome & Closing MessageInstructions if there is an iDevice with wi-fi or data (3G/4G) to scan guests' tickets If you do not bring an iDevice, Host or Lead might provide one. If you need wi-fi access,

ask Host. If a Menlo Pass holder arrives without a ticket, send them to Lead. If Lead is unavailable,

ask them to call (312) 625-5467.

1) Ask for each guest’s paper ticket or e-ticket and scan it2) If guest purchased ticket but lost it: scan code next to their name on QR CODE SHEET

a) Lead and/or Host will provide QR CODE SHEETb) If guest is not on QR CODE SHEET or if you do not have QR CODE SHEET, write

name on LOST TICKET SHEET and say, "As soon as I can I will call my supervisor to verify that you're on the list. Meanwhile, if you can, search your email for subject: Chicago Ideas Order Confirmation from [email protected]"

3) If guest has not purchased ticket and Lab is not sold out: say, "Please purchase a ticket on www.chicagoideas.com"

4) If guest has not purchased ticket and Lab is sold out: say, "This Lab is sold out. I can add you to the waitlist. If tickets become available for purchase after the Lab begins I will let you know"a) write name on WAITLIST SHEET

5) When everyone present with a ticket is in Laba) Lead will help you with LOST TICKET AND WAITLIST SHEETS

i) if there are any issues, tell Leadb) If Lead will not be present call Command Center (312) 625-5467 and read them names

on LOST TICKET SHEETi) Command will tell you who has purchased a ticket, cross their names out on the

LOST TICKET SHEET and tell them to enter Labii) Command will tell you who has not purchased a ticket, tell these guests, "I'm sorry

but I don't have any record that you purchased a ticket." Then tell them step 3 or 4.iii) Tell guests on WAITLIST SHEET, "I'm sorry but no tickets are available for

purchase." (1) If there are any issues say, "I'm sorry I don't have the authority to solve this

issue, please call the CIW Ticketing Office at (312) 906-7419."6) Give all SHEETS to Lead. If Lead is not present, give all SHEETS to Host.

arrow in the upper left

Point the iDevice at the image below as if you were taking a picture of the QR Code (you may need to move the iDevice closer to or further away from the image and wait for the camera to focus)

When "Ticket has already been scanned." appears at the top of the screen, it means the iDevice has scanned the ticket.

If you need to go back, click the 3 white bars at the bottom of the screen

If the flash turns on but you don't need it on: go back, point the iDevice at a light, click 'Scan' again (the flash should now be off)
