2. JESUS WILL GO ALL THE WAY (13,31–14,6)

31 At that very hour, (they) CAME to him some PHARISEES saying to him:

+ «Go away and DEPART from here – for Herod wants TO KILL you».

31 At that very hour some Pharisees come and said to him: «Go outside and DEPART from here for Herod wants to kill you.»32 He said to them: «Having come, tell that fox: ‘Behold I throw outside demons and I perform healings today and tomorrow and on the third day I am at the end!’33 But it is necessary for today, tomorrow and the day following TO DEPART for it cannot be that a prophet should perish outside Jerusalem.

34 Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill your prophets and lapidate those who are sent to you, how many times I wanted to gather your children as a hen gathers her chicks and you were not willing.

“Come, for everything is now ready.”

16 He said to him: «A man gave a great SUPPER and he invited many. 17 He sent his servant at SUPPER time to say to the guests to COME for everything was ready. 18 They all began with one accord to make excuses. The first said: ‘I have bought a field and I am forced to go OUTSIDE and see it; please, have me excused.’19 Another said: ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen and I GO to test them; please, have me excused.’20 Another said:

‘I HAVE MARRIED a wife, and therefore I cannot COME.’21 Having come back, the servant reported these things to his Lord. Then, being angry, the master of the house said to his servant: ‘Go out, quickly, into the streets and the lanes of the city, and the poor, the maimed, the blind, the lame, bring-them IN here.’22 The servant said: ‘Lord, it is done what you have commanded and still there is place!’23 The Lord said to his servant: ‘Go out, into the roads and the hedges and compel-them to COME IN, so that my house may be crowded.

3. THE LOST YOUNGER SON AND THE ELDEST (15,11-32)

11 He said:

«A man had two SONS; 12 the younger of them said to the FATHER:“FATHER, GIVE-me the share of property that is coming to me”.And he divided between them his wealth. 13 Not many days later, having gathered ALL TOGETHER, the younger SON took a journey into a far country. And there, he wasted his property in reckless living. 14 Having spent everything, there was a strong famine in that country and he began to be in need. 15 Having departed, he joined himself to one of the citizens of that country and he sent him into his fields to feed the swine.

16 He would gladly have filled his stomach with the pods that the swine ate; but no one GAVE him anything. 17 Having come to himself he said:

“How many HIRED-MEN of my FATHER abound in bread and I perish here by famine.

18 Having risen, I will go to my FATHER and I will say to him: «FATHER, I have sinned against Heaven and before you; 19 I am not worthy to be called your SON; make me as one of your HIRED MEN ”». 20 Having risen, he went to his FATHER. Being still far away, his FATHER saw him and, felt compassion and running, he fell on his neck and kissed him. 21 The SON said to him: “FATHER, I have sinned against Heaven and before you; I am not worthy to be called your SON”.

22 The FATHER said to his SERVANTS: “Quickly, bring the first robe and put it on him,GIVE a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet;

23 and get the fattened calf, and kill it.

and let us eat, AND CELEBRATE, 24 FOR THIS MY SON WAS DEAD AND HE HAS COME BACK TO LIFE, HE WAS LOST AND IS FOUND”.And they began to CELEBRATE.

25 His eldest SON was in the field. And as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing. 26 And calling one of the SERVANTS, he asked about what it might be. 27 He said to him: “Your BROTHER has come and your FATHER has killed the fattened calf because he has got him back safe and sound”. 28 Then he became angry and he would not go in. Then his FATHER, coming out, called him.

29 Answering, he said to his FATHER: “Look, for so many years I HAVE BEEN SERVING YOU and I have never transgressed a command of yours,

but you have never GIVEN me a young goat that I might CELEBRATE with my friends.

30 But when YOUR SON THIS ONE who has devoured your wealth with prostitutes came back, you killed for him the fattened calf!”

31 He said to him: “(My) CHILD, you are ALWAYS with me and ALL that is mine IS YOURS.


32 But we had TO CELEBRATE and rejoice, FOR THIS YOUR BROTHER WAS DEAD AND IS ALIVE, WAS LOST AND IS FOUND”».

4. RECOGNIZING ONESELF AS A SINNER AND FORGIVING (15,1-32)


1 All the TAX COLLECTORS and the SINNERS were coming near to him to hear him 2 but the PHARISEES and the SCRIBES complained: «This man welcomes SINNERS and eats with them!»

3 He said to them this parable: 4 «What man among you having a hundred sheep and having lost just one, does not leave the ninety-nine in THE WILDERNESS and go after the missing until he finds it? 5 And once found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing, 6 and when he got home, he calls his FRIENDS and neighbours saying to them:

“REJOICE with me FOR I have FOUND my sheep WHICH WAS LOST.”7 I say to you: in the same way there will be more JOY in Heaven over one SINNER who repents

1 He was also saying to the disciples:

. «There was a rich man who had a steward

. and this-one was denounced to him as wasting his goods.

+ 2 HAVING CALLED him,+ he said to him:

– “What is this I hear about you?

: Give-(me) the account of your stewardship: for you can no longer be steward”.

– “What shall I do,– for my master is-taking away from me the stewardship?

2. FAITHFULNESS (16,9-18)

9 And I say to you:«Make for yourselves friends with the unrighteous MAMMON,so that when it will fail they may receive you in THE ETERNAL DWELLINGS.

10 He who is faithful in a SMALLEST thing also in MUCH is faithful, and he who in a SMALLEST thing is unrighteous also in much is unrighteous. 11 Therefore if you did not become faithful in the unrighteous MAMMON, who will entrust to you the TRUE-ONE? 12 And if you did not become faithful in what is ANOTHER MAN’S, who will give you YOUR OWN?

13 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one and love the other or else he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve GOD and the MAMMON».

14 They heard all these things the Pharisees, friends of MONEY, and they were sneering at HIM.

15 He said to them: «You justify yourselves before MEN but GOD knows your hearts, for what is exalted among MEN is abomination before GOD.

16 THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS are until John; from then onwards THE KINGDOM OF GOD is proclaimed and everyone seeks to take possession of it. 17 It is easier for HEAVEN AND EARTH to pass away that for just one stroke of THE LAW to fail.

18 EVERYONE who repudiates his own wife and marries another is adulterous and THE ONE who marries a repudiated woman from a man is adulterous».


3. THE FOOLISH RICH MAN DOES NOT MAKE FRIENDS WITH MONEY (16,19-31)

+ 19 There was a rich man who dressed in purple and fine linen,+ feasting magnificently every day.

. «Are coming the days when you will desire

. to see one of the days of the Son of Man: and you will not see it.

“Look here, look there”. Do not go, do not set off in pursuit.

: so will be the Son of Man in his day.25 BUT FIRST HE MUST SUFFER MANY THINGSAND BE REJECTED BY THIS GENERATION.

- 26 As it was in the days of Noah,- so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man:

. 27 they were eating and drinking, taking wife and getting married,: till the day that Noah entered the ark

= and the flood came and destroyed them all.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- 28 Likewise as it was in the days of LOT:. they were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building,

: 29 and, on the day that LOT went out of Sodom,= He made it rain fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- 30 So it will be the day when the Son of Man will be revealed.

- 31 In that day, he who will be on the housetop and his goods in the house,: let him not come down to take it away

- and he who will be on the field: let him likewise not return back.

= 32 Remember LOT’s wife!33 WHOEVER SEEKS TO PRESERVE HIS LIFE WILL LOSE ITAND WHOEVER LOSES IT WILL KEEP IT.

= 34 I say to you,

- in that night, there will be two men in one bed,: the one will be taken and the other will be left;

- 35 there will be two women grinding together,: the one will be taken and the other will be left».


3. WHEN AND WHERE? (17,20-21; 17,37)

+ 20 Asked by the Pharisees:

- «WHEN would come THE KINGDOM OF GOD?» ------------------------------------------------------------------

+ he answered to them and said:

- «THE KINGDOM OF GODdoes not come as a fact to be observed.

- 21 They will not say: “Look here it is, or, There!”: For indeed THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS AMONG YOU.»

4. THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS HERE AND NOW (17,11-37)


11 IT HAPPENED AS HE WENT TO JERUSALEM, that he passed between Samaria and Galilee. 12 And as he entered a village, came to meet him ten lepers, who stood at a distance. 13 They lifted up the voice saying: «Lord Jesus, have mercy on us!» 14 Seeing (all that), Jesus said: «Go and show yourselves to the priests». And it happened as they went, that they were cleansed.

15 One of them, seeing that he was healed, returned, with a loud voice PRAISING GOD 16 and he fell on his face at the feet of Jesus GIVING HIM THANKS.

And he was a Samaritan. 17 Answering, Jesus said: «Were not all ten cleansed? The other nine, where are they? 18 Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God, except this foreigner?» 19 And he said to him: «Rise and come, your faith has saved you».

+ 20 The Pharisees asked him: «WHEN would THE KINGDOM OF GOD come?»

= He answered to them: «THE KINGDOM OF GOD does not come as a fact to be observed. 21 They will not say: “Look, here it is, or there!” For indeed THE KINGDOM OF GOD is among you».

22 He said to his disciples: «The days are coming when you will desire to see ONE OF THE DAYS OF THE SON OF MAN and you will not see it. 23 They will say to you: “Look here, look there!” Do not go, not even seek after. 24 For as the lighting flashing, from one part of heaven lights up the other, so THE SON OF MAN will be IN HIS DAY.

25 BUT FIRST HE MUST SUFFER MANY THINGS AND BE REJECTED BY THIS GENERATION.

26 And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: 27 they were eating and drinking, taking wife and getting married, till the day that Noah entered the ark and the flood came and destroyed them all. 28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot: they were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building, 29 and, on the day that Lot went out of Sodom, (God) made it rain fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. 30 So it will be THE DAY WHEN THE SON OF MAN will be revealed. 31 IN THAT DAY, he who will be on the housetop with his goods in the house, let him not come down to take it away and he who will be in the field let him likewise not return back. 32 Remember Lot’s wife!

33 WHOEVER SEEKS TO PRESERVE HIS LIFE WILL LOSE ITAND WHOEVER LOSES IT WILL KEEP IT.

34 I say to you, IN THAT NIGHT there will be two men in one bed, the one will be taken and the other will be left; 35 there will be two women grinding together, the one will be taken and the other will be left». [36]

+ 37 Answering, they said: «WHERE, Lord?»

= He said to them:


«Wherever THE BODY lies, there THE VULTURES will be gathered together».


B. THE JUDGEMENT OF THE SON OF MAN (18,1-14)

1. THE PARABLE OF THE UNJUST JUDGE AND THE WIDOW (18,1-8)

+ 1 He said to them a parable

- about how one ought always TO PRAY- and not lose heart.

+ 2 saying:

. «There was in a city a judge: WHO DID NOT FEAR GOD NOR REGARD MEN.

. 3 There was in that city a widow: who came to him SAYING:

– “GIVE ME JUSTICE against the man who is unjust to me”. = 4 And he refused for a while.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

. But at last he said to himself:

: “THOUGH I DO NOT FEAR GOD NOR REGARD MEN,: 5 since this widow TROUBLES ME,

– I WILL GIVE HER JUSTICE = so that in the end she will not come and WEARY ME’.»

+ 6 The Lord said:

:: «Hear what the unjust judge says.

- 7 And God WILL NOT DO RIGHT to his elect- who CRY OUT to him day and night,

. while he delays long over them!--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

+ 8 I say to you

- that he WILL DO RIGHT to them. speedily».


2. THE PARABLE OF THE PHARISEE AND THE PUBLICAN (18,9-14)

. 9 He also said to some who trusted in themselves to be JUST

. and who despised the others this parable:

- 10 «Two men WENT UP to the Temple to pray,- one a Pharisee, the other a tax collector.

+ 11 THE PHARISEE, standing, prayed with

himself:

: “My God, I give thanks to you – that I am not like other men

: thieves, UNJUST, adulterers,

– or like this tax collector:: 12 I fast twice a week, : I give tithes of all my incomes”.

+ 13 THE TAX COLLECTOR standing at a distance,

– did not even dare to raise the eyes to heaven– but the breast he beat saying:

: “My God, have mercy on me A SINNER”.

- 14 I say to you that WENT DOWN this-one JUSTIFIED to his house,- rather than the other-one.

. For everyone who exalts himself WILL BE HUMBLED

. and who humbles himself WILL BE EXALTED».


3. THE JUDGEMENT OF THE SON OF MAN (18,1-14)


1 He SAID to them a PARABLE that men always ought TO PRAY and not lose heart. 2 He SAID:

«There was in a city a judge who did not fear GOD nor regard men. 3 There was in that same city a widow who came to him saying: “Give me JUSTICE against him who is UNJUST to me.” 4 For a

while he refused. But at last he said to himself: Though I do not fear GOD nor regard men, 5 since this widow troubles me, I will give her JUSTICE so that she will not come and weary me till the end”.»

6 The Lord said: «Hear what says this UNJUST judge. 7 And will notGod do JUSTICE to his elect who cry out to him day and night, even if he delays long over them? 8 I SAY TO YOU that he will do JUSTICE to them speedily.

BUT WHEN THE SON OF MAN COMES, WILL HE FIND FAITH ON EARTH?»

9 HE SAID to some who trusted in themselves to be JUSTand who despised everyone else this PARABLE:

10 «Two men went up to the Temple to PRAY; the one was a Pharisee, the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee, standing, prayed with himself: “My GOD, I give you thanks that I am not like everyone else, thieves, UNJUST, adulterers, or like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week, I give tithes of all my incomes”.13 The tax collector standing at a distance, did not even dare to raise the eyes to heaven but he beat his breast saying: “My GOD, have mercy on me for I am a sinner”.

14 I SAY TO YOU that this one went down to his house JUSTIFIED,rather than the other.For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled and who humbleshimself will be exalted».


C. FOLLOWING THE SON OF GOD (18,15-30)

1. WELCOMING LIKE A CHILD THE KINGDOM OF GOD (18,15-17)

+ 15 Now they BROUGHT-TO him BABIES· that he might touch them.

– Seeing that, THE DISCIPLES REBUKED them.

·· 16 But Jesus CALLED-TO him them saying:

+ «Let the CHILDREN· come to me

+ and do not forbid them.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------For of such indeed is THE KINGDOM OF GOD.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

·· 17 In truth I say to YOU:

– whoever DOES NOT WELCOME THE KINGDOM OF GOD· like a CHILD

– will never enter IT».


2. RICHES KEEP FROM FOLLOWING JESUS (18,18-27)

+ 18 A ruler asked him saying:– «Good Teacher, WHAT have I to do to INHERIT ETERNAL LIFE?»------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

+ 19 And Jesus to him said:– «Why do you call me good? No one is good, except GOD alone!

· 20 You know the commandments:--------------------------------------------------------------------------

: “Do not commit adultery, do not murder,: DO NOT STEAL,

: do not give false witness, honour your father and your mother.”»

• 21 This-one said: «All this, I HAVE KEPT since my youth».

22 Having heard,Jesus said to him:

«You still lack just one thing:

All that YOU HAVESELL-IT and GIVE-it to the poor,

and YOU WILL HAVE TREASURE IN HEAVEN;

then come and follow - me».

• 23 This-one having heard, he became very sad FOR HE WAS VERY RICH.

· 24 Seeing him, Jesus said:--------------------------------------------------------------------------

: «How hardly THOSE WHO HAVE RICHES enter in the kingdom of GOD! : 25 It is easier for a camel to enter in the eye of a needle : than for A RICH to enter in the kingdom of GOD!»

+ 26 Those who were listening said:– «Then WHO can BE SAVED?»------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

+ 27 He said:– «What is impossible with men is possible with GOD».


3. LEAVING EVERYTHING TO INHERIT ETERNAL LIFE (18,28-30)

+ 28 Peter said:

– «Look! we, LEAVING WHAT (which was) TO US,: (we) have followed YOU!»

+ 29 He said to them: «In truth I say to you:

– there is no one who has LEFT HOUSE, WIFE, BROTHERS, PARENTS, CHILDREN,

4. FOLLOWING THE SON OF GOD (18,15-30)


15 They also brought babies to him, for him to touch them. Seeing that, the disciples rebuked them. 16 But Jesus CALLED THEM TO him, saying: «Let the little children COME TO ME and do not forbid them, for of such is the kingdom of GOD. 17 In truth I say to you: whoever does not WELCOME the kingdom of GODlike a little child will not ENTER inside it».

18 A ruler asked him: «Good Teacher, what have I to do to INHERIT ETERNAL LIFE?» 19 But Jesus said to him: «Why do you call me good?

No one is good except GOD alone!20 You know the commandments: “Do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not give false witness, honour your father and your mother.”»21 He said: «All this, I have kept since my youth». 22 Having heard, Jesus said to him:

«You still lack just one thing:All that you have, sell-it and GIVE - it to the POOR and you will have trea-sure in heaven; then come, FOLLOW ME».

23 Having heard this, he became very sad for he was very rich. 24 Seeing him, Jesus said: «How hard it is for those who have riches to ENTER in the kingdom of GOD! 25 It is easier indeed for a camel to enter in the eye of a needle than for a rich to ENTER in the kingdom of GOD!» 26 Those who were listening said:

«Then who can be saved?» 27 He said: «What is impossible with men

is possible with GOD».

28 Peter said: «Look,having left ours, we have FOLLOWED YOU!»29 he said to them: «In truth I say to you: there is no one who has left house, wife, brothers, parents, children,

for the sake of the kingdom of GOD, 30 who will not RECEIVE many times more in this time

and in the age to come ETERNAL LIFE».

37 ANSWERING, THEY SAID: «WHERE, Lord?»HE SAID TO THEM: «Where the body lies, there the vultures will be gathered together».

: 36 Hearing a crowd passing by, – he asked

. WHAT IT was this.

- 37 They told him that . JESUS THE NAZOREAN is coming.

- 38 He shouted saying: . «JESUS SON OF DAVID, have mercy on me!»

39 Those who went before rebuked him so that he MIGHT KEEP SILENCE.

But all the more he cried out: «SON OF DAVID, have mercy on me!»40 Jesus, stopped, commanded him to BE BROUGHT to him.

: Having drawn near, – he asked him:

41 . «WHAT do you want (that) I may do for you?»

- He said: «LORD, that I MAY SEE AGAIN!»

- 42 Jesus said to him: «SEE AGAIN, your faith has saved you!»

+ 43 And immediately HE SAW AGAIN and he FOLLOWED him, glorifying GOD.+ and all the people HAVING SEEN GAVE praise

to GOD.


2. THE PUBLICAN JUSTIFIED (19,1-10)

+ 1 And, having come in, + he PASSED through Jericho.

: 2 And behold a man : called with name of Zacchaeus,

- and he was a chief-of-tax-collectors - and he (was) rich.

- «Zacchaeus, hurry, come down!- for today at your house I must to stay.»

3. AT JERICHO, JESUS IS TREATED AS LORD (18,35–19,10)


35 It happened, as he drew near to Jericho, that a BLIND MAN was sitting at the side of the road, begging.

36 Hearing a crowd passing by, he inquired WHAT IT WAS THIS. 37 They announced him: «Jesus the Nazorean is passing by!» 38 He shouted saying: «Jesus, SON OF DAVID, have mercy on me!» 39 Those who went-before rebuked him to keep silence.

But he cried out all the more: «SON OF DAVID, have mercy on me!» 40 Jesus, stopped, commanded him to be brought to him. Having drawn near, he asked him:

41 «What do you want me to do for you?» He said: «LORD, let me see-again.» 42 Jesus said to him: «See-again! Your FAITH has SAVED you.»

43 And immediately he saw again and he followed him glorifying God; and all the people, having seen, gave praise to God.

19,1 Having come in, he passed through Jericho. 2 And behold a man called with name of Zacchaeus, and he was a chief of tax collectors and he was rich.

3 He WAS SEEKING TO see Jesus WHO HE WAS.

BUT HE COULD NOT because of the crowd, for he was of short stature. 4 And running ahead, he climbed up a sycamore to see him for he was going to pass that way.

5 When he went to the place, lifting-the-eyes, Jesus said to him: «Zacchaeus, come down, hurry! For today I am to stay at your house.» 6 And he hurried down and welcomed him joyfully. 7 Seeing that, they all complained saying: «He has gone to be a guest with a sinner man!»

8 Stood, Zacchaeus said to the LORD: «Look: half of my goods, LORD, to the poor I give; and if I have extorted anything from anyone, I give back to him fourfold.»

9 Jesus said to him: «Today SALVATION has come to this house, because he also is a SON OF ABRAHAM! 10 For the SON OF MAN has come to seek and TO SAVE what was lost.»


1. THE PARABLE OF THE TALENTS (MATT 25,14-30)

: 14 «Just as a man going on a journey called his own servant and entrusted to them his goods: 15 to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one,

= 23 His master said to him:- «Well, good and faithful servant, over a little you have been faithful, I will set you over much;- Enter into the joy of your master.»

– 24 Having come even the man who one talent had received said: - «Master, I know you that you are a hard man- reaping where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered.

: 25 Fearing, having departedI have hidden your talent in the ground;: look, you have what is yours.»

- «Wicked and lazy servant, you knew that- I reap where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered.

: 27 Therefore you should throw my money the bankers: and coming I would have recovered what was my own with interest.

– 28 Therefore, take the talent from him+ and give-(it) to the man who has the ten talents.»

2. THE PARABLE OF THE MINAE (LUKE 19,11-28)

· 11 (They) Hearing that, he said again a parable- because he was near to JERUSALEM- and they thought that immediately was going to appear THE KINGDOM OF GOD;

· 12 thus he said:

+ «A nobleman went to a far country to receive KINGSHIP and to return.– 13 HAVING CALLED ten of his servants, he gave them ten minae,= and said to them: “Trade (do profit) until I come.”

+ 16 The first came-before (him) saying:“Lord, your mina has gained TEN MINAE.”

. 17 He said to him: “Well, good servant; because in a little you have been faithful,--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BE having POWER OVER TEN CITIES.”--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

+ 18 The second came saying:“Your mina, Lord, has made FIVE MINAE.“

. 19 To this one also he said: “You also, become (chief) over FIVE CITIES.”

+ 20 The other came saying:: “Lord, here is your mina, which I had, put away in a handkerchief.

- 21 For I was afraid of you who are a severe man - who takes what you did not deposit and reap what you did

not sow.”----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

22 He said to him: “BY YOUR OWN MOUTH I JUDGE YOU, WICKED SERVANT!----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You knew I am a severe man,- who takes what I did not deposit and reap what I did not

sow.: 23 Why did you not give my money to the bank?

+ And me, coming, with interests I would have cashed.”

+ 24 Then he said to those standing by:- “Take - from him the mina- and give-it to the one who has THE TEN MINAE”.

- to everyone who has will be given- and anyone who has not, even of what he has will be deprived.

over them, – BRING-THEM here


= and slay-them before me.”»

28 Having said that, he went on ahead going up to JERUSALEM.


D. ON THE MOUNT OF OLIVES (19,29-40)

1. THE ENTHRONEMENT OF THE KING (19,29-36)

+ 29 And it happened, as he drew near to Bethphage and Bethany,+ at the mount called of Olives,+ that he SENT two of the disciples SAYING:

. 30 «Go to the village opposite

. in which, having entered, YOU WILL FIND a COLT tied,-----------------------------------------------------------

ON WHICH NO ONE HAS EVER YET SAT.-----------------------------------------------------------

= And HAVING UNTIED IT, bring-it.

- 31 And if anyone may ask you: “Why ARE YOU UNTYING it?”,- So you shall say: “Because his lord has need of it.”»

+ 32 Having gone, those WHO WERE SENT FOUND. just as he had SAID to them.

= 33 As they WERE UNTYING the colt,- its lords said to them: «Why ARE YOU UNTYING THE COLT?»- 34 They said: «Because his lord has need of it.»

: 35 And they brought it to Jesus, and throwing their cloaks ON THE COLT,------------------------------------------------------

THEY CAUSED TO MOUNT JESUS ON IT.------------------------------------------------------

: 36 And as he went, they spread their cloaks on the road.


2. THE ACCLAMATION OF THE KING (19,37-40)

+ 37 As he was drawing near the descent of the Mount of Olives,+ ALL the multitude of the disciples began,

: rejoicing, to PRAISE God WITH A LOUD VOICE, : for ALL that they had SEEN of powers, 38 saying:

+ 39 SOME OF the Pharisees, from the crowd, said to him:– «Teacher, REBUKE your disciples.»

+ 40 Answering, he said:– «I tell you if these ones KEEP SILENCE, the stones WILL CRY OUT.»


3. ON THE MOUNT OF OLIVES, JESUS IS GREETED AS KING (19,29-40)


29 It happened, AS HE DREW NEAR, to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mountain called of Olives, that he sent two of the DISCIPLES saying: 30 «Go to the village opposite in which, having come in, you will find a colt tied,

ON WHICH NO ONE HAS EVER YET SAT.

Having untied it, bring-it. 31 And if anyone asks you: “Why are you untying it?”, so you shall say: “Because the LORD has need of it”.» 32 Having gone, those who were sent found just as he had said to them 33 As they were untying the colt, its LORDS said to them: «Why are you untying the colt?» 34 They said: «Because the LORD has need of it.»

35 And they brought it to Jesus, and throwing their cloaks on the colt,

THEY CAUSED TO MOUNT JESUS ON IT.36 And as he went, they spread their cloaks on the road.

37 AS HE WAS DRAWING NEAR the descentof the Mount of Olives, all the multitude of the DISCIPLES, began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice, for all that they had seen (of manifestations) of power, 38 saying:

«“Blessed is he who comes”, THE KING, “in the name of the Lord”. In heaven peace and glory in the highest!»

39 But some of the Pharisees, from the crowd, said to him: «MASTER, rebuke your DISCIPLES.» 40 Answering, he said to them: «I tell you if these keep silence, the stones will cry out.»


E. THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF JERUSALEM’S FATE (19,41-46)

+ 41 As he was drawing near, seeing THE CITY,+ he wept over it,

. 42 SAYING that:

– «Ah! if you had known, on this day, even you what for the peace!– but now it has been hidden FROM YOUR EYES

:: 43 for (they) will come the days upon you

. when they will gird you your enemies of trenches, . and will surround you and close you in on all sides,

18,35 It happened, as HE DREW NEAR TO Jericho, that a blind man was sitting at the side of the road, begging. 36 Hearing a crowd passing by, he inquired what it was all about. 37 They told him: «Jesus the Nazorean who COMES at this side!» 38 He shouted saying: «Jesus, SON OF DAVID, have mercy on me!» 39 Those who went before rebuked him so that he might keep silence; but all the more he cried out:

«S ON OF DAVID, have mercy on me!» 40 Jesus, stopped, commanded him to be brought to him. Having drawn near, he asked to him: 41 «What do you want me to do for you?» he said: «Lord, let me see again!» 42 Jesus said to him: «See again! Your faith has saved you.» 43 And immediately he saw again and he followed him praising GOD. And ALL THE PEOPLE, having seen, gave glory to GOD.

19,1 Having come in, he passed through Jericho. 2 And behold a man called with the name of Zacchaeus, and he was a chief of tax collectors and he was rich. 3 He was seeking to see who Jesus was. But he could not because of the crowd, for he was of short stature. 4 And running ahead, he climbed up a sycamore to see him for he was going to pass that way.

5 When he went to the place, lifting the eyes, Jesus said to him: «Zacchaeus, come down, hurry! FOR TODAY I AM TO STAY AT YOUR HOUSE.» 6 He hurried down and welcomed him joyfully. 7 Seeing that, they all complained saying: «He has gone TO BE A GUEST with a sinner man!» 8 Stood, Zacchaeus said to the Lord:

«Look: half of my goods, Lord, to the poor I GIVE; and if I have extorted anything from anyone, I GIVE BACK to him fourfold.»

9 Jesus said to him: «TODAY SALVATION HAS COME TO THIS HOUSE, because he also is a son of Abraham; 10 for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save what was lost.»
