As cluster managers of Kindergarten Services, the City of Casey provides kindergarten experiences in a variety of settings including Children’s Centres (Kindergartens), Family and Children’s Centres

and Family and Community Centres. Staff may be required to work in these various settings.

1. Position Purpose » Work in partnership with other educators at the kindergarten to deliver inclusive,

innovative and respectful practices, programs and behaviours, which deliver high quality outcomes for all children and families.

» Support and assist with the implementation of the Kindergarten Services Philosophy and aim for excellence in all aspects of service delivery.

2. Key Responsibility Areas» Contribute actively to the kindergarten team in order to support the delivery of a program

» Programs are to be delivered in accordance with The Education and Care Services National Regulations, The Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010, the National Quality Framework and the City of Casey Operational Guidelines and/or Policies.

» Attend educator’s meetings and professional development training sessions where required.

» Ensure the provision of all services with a focus on customer service, City of Casey commitments and current research and practice.

» Promote and practice Early Childhood Australia Code of Ethics.

» Contribute to the development of the Collaborative Team Teaching Charter for your service, embedding and honouring the agreed commitments and principles.

» Assist with the development of documentation that reflects and celebrates children’s

interests, learning and development.

» Perform relevant administrative duties using a variety of digital technologies.

» Through leadership and example, promote Casey’s Trademark Behaviours: show respect, take responsibility, listen and respond, be positive, think things through.

3. Occupational Health & Safety Responsibilities » Make sure that any hazards, incidents (including near misses) and injuries are reported

immediately to your supervisor.

» Cooperate in relation to activities taken by the organisation to comply with OH&S legislation.

» Participate in consultation, meetings, training and other health and safety activities.

» Make sure only authorised, adequately trained staff undertake assigned tasks.

» Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and the health and safety of others in the workplace.

» Provide all staff with relevant OH&S information in an appropriate manner.

» Develop new work procedures, as required, in consultation with relevant persons.

» Provide appropriate facilities for safe storage, handling and transport of work-related materials and equipment.

» Actively participate in the planning and execution of Return to Work plans for employees.

4. Interpersonal Skills » Educators are to commit to working in a collaborative environment, working respectfully

and collaboratively with co-educators, City of Casey staff and management.

» Communicate, relate and connect with co-educators children, families and the wider community.

» Engage collaboratively with staff throughout the Community Life Division, in order to achieve individual, departmental and corporate objectives.

» Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and professional enhancement.

» Commit to an integrated service delivery model, liaise and consult with all service users.

5. Inherent Physical Requirements » Sight, hearing and movement sufficient to adequately supervise children within the

kindergarten environment.

» Ability to communicate clearly by telephone, email and face to face.

» Ability to sit, walk, bend, reach, twist, kneel and grip to perform daily duties.

» Use a computer.

» Drive a vehicle

6. Qualifications and Experience » A certificate 111 in Early Childhood Education and Care or Diploma of Early Childhood

Education and Care or equivalent.

» Proven experience working and engaging with young children and families.

» Current First Aid qualifications which comply with the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations 2012.

» Current Working with Children Check.

» Conditions of Employment

» Conditions of employment are as per the City of Casey Enterprise Agreement, Casey’s policies and procedures and the letter of offer.

» Hours of Duty - Hours of duty are in accordance with the Casey of City Enterprise Agreement 2017 and the Work Schedule which is negotiated annually on the basis of community need.

» Tenure - This is a limited tenure role until 21 December 2018. The position is not permanent and there is no guarantee of ongoing employment.

» Location - Council reserves the right to relocate kindergarten staff on a needs basis.

» Health Declaration - The preferred applicant is required to complete a Health Declaration form and return it to the Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator (People and Culture Department) prior to commencement.

» Criminal Records Check - This position is subject to the successful applicant having a satisfactory National Criminal Records Check prior to commencement and then as regularly as the position requires as per Council Policy.

» Working with Children Check - This position is subject to the successful applicant having a satisfactory Working with Children Check prior to commencement, and then renewed regularly as per legislative requirements

» Driving Licence - The incumbent must hold a Current Driver's Licence which allows them to drive within Victoria.

» Transport - Employees are expected to use Council-owned vehicles whenever practical and reasonable to do so, for work-related travel. In the event that an employee uses a privately-owned vehicle for work-related travel, Council recommends that the vehicle be comprehensively insured and the insurance company notified that the vehicle is being used for work-related travel. If an employee using a privately owned, comprehensively insured vehicle for work-related travel is involved in an accident they may be eligible for reimbursement of the insurance excess. Vehicles not comprehensively insured will not be eligible for reimbursement.

» Recreation Leave - Annual leave must be taken during kindergarten term breaks.

» Sick Leave - A medical certificate may be required for any absence and must be provided for sick leave exceeding three working days or absence on the working day before or after a rostered day off (if applicable), annual leave or public holiday.

» Multiskilling - The employee may be directed to carry out any duties within the limit of his/her skills, competence and training, provided that such duties do not promote a narrowing of their skill base.

» Risk Management - Employees must understand and comply with risk management policy and procedures.

» Employment Status - Prior to commencement of duties the successful applicant must provide proof of permission to work in Australia.

» Probation Period – A six month Probation Period applies to this position. This period will be extended in line with any period of unpaid or unauthorised leave.
