View from the Bench The white banded dove sings unnoticed in the elm. An elderly couple liver-spotted hand in liver-spotted hand amble by. A pair of thirty-somethings rush by with a stroller and a baby. An ugly scotch terrier (I suspect) inspects my shoe-terrified. A flock of pigeons is disturbed, takes wing and lands again. It is joined by a second flock. They merge. A child dances like Chaplin-pauses- then explains something to her brother and sister. A datschund does its best not to look comic- it fails.
