Over the years, time distribution systems have significantly changed andimproved due to electronics evolution. Originally with radio and GPSsynchronisation, then with coded time distribution and now with wirelesstime distribution.

The new DHF radio technology allows you to manage more precisely theheating and lightning systems. It enables you to make real energy savings bycontrolling efficiently the different programs.

A clock must be readable and adapted to its environment.

Radio Transmitters: MSF (United Kingdom), FI (France), DCF (Germany)

GPS System:

• A digital display is recommended for sites where precise time reading is required.A display with hands is recommended for cost reasons or design requirements.The colour and the contrast on a dial as well as the markings are of prime importance.Colour choice recommendations for clocks are:Analogue clocks: White background dial, black marking for hands (or strongly contrastedcolours).Digital clocks: Black background and luminous display (or strongly contrasted colours).

• The slave clock receives a time message, checks it, and compares it to its internal time.If there is a difference, it automatically resets the time. The clock operates on the internalquartz time base in case of radio signal interruption.The principal advantage of the radio synchronisation is to ensure the receiver has a greataccuracy and receives time changeovers automatically.Today, most of the time distributions are equipped with an antenna for radiosynchronisation.

• All over the world, time synchronisation can be ensured via a network of 24 satellites partof the GPS system.The GPS antenna receives a message every second (time + date), decodes it and sends itto the master clock.The time precision of the GPS is very accurate (approx. ±/1ms).

Select a clock

The Radio Synchronisation and the GPS System

• Clock network or wireless relay synchronization in one orseveral buildings without cabling

• The master clock transmits a coded time message through theradio transmitter. Slave clocks pick up the message andautomatically synchronise. In case of interference, they continueto run on their own time base.

• The DHF relays receive the programming and ringing time

• As no cabling is required, it results in a considerable costsaving and facilitates clock relocation (with battery clock only).The radio waves go through walls with a range of about 200 meters.

• Applications:- Refurbishment of public or industrial buildings- Existing system extensions- Unified time distribution in all the buildings on campus, largefactories and sites separated by roads without civil engineering works

• Coded time distribution (AFNOR code / IRIG B standard)transmits a complete time message on a two-wire line. Timeand date setting of the slave clocks is automatic.

• Reduce installation costs and maintenance when the clocksystem is important (such as airport).Particularly suitable for clock system with digital clocks.

• Some slave clocks require mains power supply. In case ofpower failure or AFNOR/IRIG B signal being cut, clocks operate independantly for 1 hour then automaticallyresynchronise when the power or signal is restored.
