Who are ide? ide is an integrated Electrical Engineering company and a widely recognised brand in the design and manufacture of power distribution and cable.

Our twenty plus years experience in Electrical Engineering has allowed us to develop the skills, knowledge and expertise to create the most efficient, versatile solutions which are suitable for use in a wide range of industry sectors.

Furthermore we can provide additional services such as qualified site engineers for surveys, testing and installation of electrical equipment, 3D CAD rendering and Generator Modification.

Change for the future Recently the landscape of ide has changed, which has allowed the company to strengthen in key areas. ide Rental now operates as a standalone business and although it has a separate identity, it remains under the corporate banner along with ide Systems, which remains the central point for all sales and manufacturing requirements.

The power distribution industry is constantly changing, therefore it is important to adapt accordingly to meet demand. We believe that the recent company restructure will allow us to do this, as well as helping us achieve success in new and existing areas of the market.

All equipment is durable and easy-to-use and includes a heavy duty galvanised stainless steel crash frame or High Density Polyethene for extra protection.

Generator Industry

ide is the market leader in the sale and hire of power distribution equipment to the generator & temporary power industry. Supplying Auto Transfer Switches, Auto Mains Failure, Generator Connection Points, as well as Cable and Distribution. We can also offer a generator modification service.

Offshore power

We have the capability to provide specialist power distribution for your offshore applications. Our equipment is designed to perform in harsh environments, so you can be confident it can stand up to mother nature.

Events and exhibitions

Our electrical distribution equipment is designed to cater for all event requirements - supporting entertainment stages, PA systems, lighting, audio visual and refreshment areas. We support many high profile indoor and outdoor events within the UK & Europe and even if the weather doesn’t go your way our equipment is safe and reliable, ensuring that the show goes on. We have a high level of stock spread across four centres in the UK, to ensure no matter where you are in the country you can access the equipment you need for your event. Our staff are on hand 24/7 for any installation requirements.

We manufacture external distribution units for hospitals across the UK as well as a DS2 power distribution panel which provides inline protection vital to mobile MRI/CAT scanners. The distribution equipment we supply is specifically designed to ensure continuity of supplies, which is critical within this environment.

We’ve played a critical role in supplying power distribution for our British Military camps. Reacting quickly to meet demanding deadlines, supplying a large volume of products including; temporary distribution, cable, lighting and essential parts.

ide Systems is the central point for all sales and manufacturing requirements. Our Electrical Engineers are on hand to design and build customised solutions to ensure all your needs are met. Using the latest 3D CAD software we are able to provide full rendering of a product before it is manufactured, as well as developing new innovative solutions for the industry.

Our core products range from distribution panels, automatic/manual changeover switches, switchboards and cable, but our ability to engineer customised solutions is where we set ourselves apart from our competitors.

All of our products can be manufactured in either stainless steel, High Density Polyethene or rubber to ensure maximum protection. Our sales team are on hand to provide technical support for all requirements to ensure full customer satisfaction.

We can also provide qualified site engineers for: surveys, testing, installation and generator modification.

Site Distribution BoardsWe supply three-phase mains distribution units for use on any temporary electrical installation or construction site. Equipment is housed in a 1.4003 (3CR12) stainless steel enclosure designed to IP55 with textured powder coat finish to RAL7021 – black (other colours are available on request).

An additional 8 modules of space is available for outgoing protection if incoming earth leakage is not required.

250mm high extension boxes can be fitted top or bottom on 160A and larger boards. Giving the facility for a further 4 outlets, and 24 x 18mm modules of space for outgoing protection or command & control products.

As standard, all MCBs have C-Type trip curves. All RCDs and RCBOs are Type A.

» Main door to gain access to final distribution circuits, secondary door for access to main switch only. Both doors provided with a padlock facility.

» Bottom entry 3mm aluminium gland plate, top mounted rain cover and pre-punched sides for outgoing socket mounting from 16A to 63A, IP44 and 67.

» Enclosure mounted within a galvanized box section crash frame complete with fork lift pockets. (125A version on galvanized floor stand).

» 4 pole incoming MCCB with thermal magnetic trip. Optional adjustable / switchable incoming earth leakage.

» 4 pole busbar distribution system allowing easy connection of 2 pole and 4 pole outgoing devices, RCDs and RCBOs. Internal earth bar bonded to external earth studs on enclosure and frame.

MCS (Motorised Changeover Switches)A range of 3 and 4 pole, motor driven switches, for operation via a suitably designed control circuit, or automatic switching of supplies monitored by a control module.

Switches have three stable positions, I – O – II, to ensure isolation between two supplies.

All are supplied with handles for emergency manual operation should it be required.

Available in current ratings from 160A to 1600A and can be mounted in standard or custom fabricated enclosures to suit your application.



ATS (Auto Transfer Switch)Single or 3 phase, ATS panels are a smaller lightweight solution to the AMF. Ranging from 45A to 800A, the ATS panels can be mounted indoors and outdoors to any wall, surface or generator, as well as within a crash frame. With both top and bottom gland plate, the ATS is a versatile fixed and temporary solution for any electrical backup supply. Adjustment flexibility from each supply phase failure and delay on timer relay, with a volt free generator start signal and auxiliary 230V power supply (Battery charging or heater). Unit has external status indicator lamps and an Auto/Test switch.

3 position switch Mains-Off-Generator, padlockable in the Off position.

Devices are housed in GRP (Glass Reinforced Polyester) Enclosures which are resistant to harsh atmospheres. Suitable for outdoor use with an IP66 rating. RAL 7032.

Long service life without maintenance.

Fitted with appliance inlets for quick connection of temporary generator.

H07RN-F is a double insulated, Ethylene Propylene Rubber, flexible cable (usually black) designed to withstand; the weather, oils/greases, mechanical and thermal stresses. Applications include; industrial environments mobile power supplies, worksites, events for audio and visual equipment, drainage and water treatment, dams and port areas. Conforms to BS EN 7919.

SY Control Cable is a galvanised steel wire braid with Polyvinyl Chloride Insulation supply cable (usually transparent to be able to see the braid) suitable for fixed installations, or flexible use, where there is magnetic interference and mechanical damage is a possibility. IP Explanation and RatingsBS EN 60529 outlines an international classification system for the sealing effectiveness of enclosures of electrical equipment against the intrusion into the equipment of foreign bodies (i.e. tools, dust, fingers) and moisture. This classification system utilizes the letters “IP” (“Ingress Protection”) followed by two or three digits. (A third digit is sometimes used. An “x” is used for one of the digits if there is only one class of protection; i.e. IPX4 which addresses moisture resistance only.)

Degrees of Protection - First Digit

The first digit of the IP code indicates the degree that persons are protected against contact with moving parts (other than smooth rotating shafts, etc.) and the degree that equipment is protected against solid foreign bodies intruding into an enclosure.

Degrees of Protection - Second Digit

The second digit indicates the degree of protection of the equipment inside the enclosure against the harmful entry of various forms of moisture (e.g. dripping, spraying, submersion, etc.) Submersion depth and time must be specified by the end-user. The requirement must be more onerous than IP67.

The IP Code Symbols

The chart opposite illustrates the use of special symbols in the IP classification system. In the “1st digit” column, not the grid-like symbols net to numbers 5 and 6. These symbols can be placed on equipment to illustrate the IP protection provided.
