1 WHO WILL LEAD NEW JERSEY NEXT? On Wednesday, October 11 at 8pm, New Jersey’s Next Governor with Steve Adubato will discuss issues like soaring property taxes, the pension crisis, funding NJ’s schools, and more with gubernatorial candidates Democrat Phil Murphy and Republican Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno. Also this month, on Monday, October 16 at 8pm, NJTV, in partnership with Montclair State University, will host a debate between New Jersey’s Lieutenant Gubernatorial candidates from the University’s campus. Guadagno’s running mate Carlos Rendo, Woodcliff Lake’s Mayor and an attorney, will square off with Murphy’s pick, Sheila Oliver, a current State Assemblywoman, former Assembly Speaker and former Essex County Freeholder, in NJ Decides 2017: The Lieutenant Gubernatorial Debate moderated by NJTV News Chief Political Correspondent Michael Aron. Ten years in the making, The Vietnam War tells the epic story of one of the most divisive and controversial events in American history as it has never before been told on film. The immersive narrative reveals the human dimensions of the war through testimony from nearly 80 witnesses, including Americans who fought in the war and others who opposed it, as well as Vietnamese combatants and civilians from both sides of the conflict. Digitally re-mastered archival footage, photographs taken by legendary 20th century photojournalists, historic television broadcasts, evocative home movies, and revelatory audio recordings from inside the Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon administrations bring the war and the chaotic era it encompassed to life. More than 120 popular songs that defined the era by The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Simon and Garfunkel, Janis Joplin, Joni Mitchell, Pete Seeger, and other iconic artists further enhance the storytelling. The Vietnam War was a decade of agony that took the lives of more than 58,000 Americans,” Burns said. “Not since the Civil War have we as a country been so torn apart. More than 40 years after it ended, we can’t forget Vietnam, and we are still arguing about why it went wrong, who was to blame and whether it was all worth it.” Burns hopes The Vietnam War will inspire national conversations about our country’s history and who we are as Americans. “This is without a doubt the most ambitious project that we have ever undertaken. PBS is the only place it could have been done,” he remarked at a recent New York Times event. “This film is not an answer, but a set of questions about what happened.” OCTOBER 2017 VIETNAM REVISITED Learn more at njtvnews.org MONDAY, OCTOBER 16 FROM 8-10PM

Celebrated filmmaker Ken Burns — heralded as “America’s storyteller” for such films as Jazz, Baseball, The Roosevelts, and Brooklyn Bridge — makes television history again this month with the premiere of The Vietnam War, a new 10-part, 18-hour documentary series co-directed by Lynn Novick.

“The Vietnam War was a decade of agony that took the lives of more than 58,000 Americans,” Burns said. “Not since the Civil War have we as a country been so torn apart. More than 40 years after it ended, we can’t forget Vietnam, and we are still arguing about why it went wrong, who was to blame and whether it was all worth it.”

Burns hopes The Vietnam War will inspire national conversations about our country’s history and who we are as Americans.

“This is without a doubt the most ambitious project that we have ever undertaken. PBS is the only place it could have been done,” he remarked at a recent New York Times event. “This film is not an answer, but a set of questions about what happened.”

Nature tracks the adaptable red fox in Fox Tales (above), which can make a home along the cliffs of Newfoundland, the Arctic tundra, and recently, in urban centers. The series will then explore the question of whether wild creatures can really experience emotions like joy, devotion and love when humans are reunited with the wild animals with which they forged a deep bond with years ago in Animal Reunions.

In post-World War II, Paul Sabine is restoring Paris as the fashion capital of the world. His dresses are a sensation, and only his shady past and an inconvenient corpse block his way to success. Dressing up was never so dazzling – or dangerous – in The Collection. At the end of the month, Poldark’s third season returns, detailing the thrilling exploits of Ross Poldark and his fiery partner Demelza in eight action-packed episodes.
