General things to think about

• Sound• Tripod• Fancy shots – don’t be tempted – have a

reason for a zoom• Keep the sun at your back

How to shoot people• Look at the background (use the space, have a depth

of field about 1 ½ m from wall)

• Look at the framing• Look at headroom• Look at speaking space (face the right way into space)

• Look at the sun. Keep your back to it (even when it is cloudy)

• Look at the eyes – two eyes (even if it is profile) and on the level (camera on the same level as the person you are filming)

• Crossing the line (film interviewer and interviewee from the same side of the line)
