In 2016, our series of record-breaking Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite and British Impressionist Art sales confirmed Christie’s position as market leaders in the category.
Across the year, 577 lots were offered at price points from £3,000 to £3 million, achieving a total of £20,368,215. Of lots sold, 94% achieved or exceeded their pre-sale low estimates. The top lot of 2016, Frederic, Lord Leighton’s Golden Hours, achieved £3,274,500, setting a world record for the artist.
