Give orphans the property which belongs to them when they are able to handle it themselves and do not substitute your worthless things for their valuable ones; and do not cheat them of theirpossessionthroughmixingitupwithyourown.Forthiswouldindeedbeagreatsin.2

DonotentrustyourpropertywhichAllahhasmadeameansofsupportforyourfamily,tofeebleminded people for investment in business,however,providesuchpeoplewithfoodandclothing and speak to them nicely and give them good advice.5

Observetheorphansthroughtestingtheirabilitiesuntiltheyreachtheageofmarriage,thenifyoufindthemcapableofsoundjudgment,handovertothemtheirproperty;anddonotconsumeitwastefullyinhastelesttheygrowuptodemandit.Iftheguardianiswell-off,heshouldnot take compensationfromtheorphan’sproperty,butifheispoorlethimtakeajustandreasonableremuneration.Whenyouhandovertheirpropertytothem,callinsomewitnesses;even thoughAllahissufficientintakingtheaccountability.6

Men will have a share in what their parents and their near relatives leave; and women will have ashareinwhattheirparentsandtheirnearrelativesleave:whether it be a little or much, they shall be legally entitled to their shares.7Iftherelatives,orphansorneedyarepresentatthetimeofthedivisionofaninheritance,givethemsomethingoutofit,andspeaktothemkindwords.8

ThebeduinArabssay:“Wehavebelieved.”Tellthem:“You have not believed; rather say ‘We have become Muslims;’forfaithhasnotyetfounditswayintoyourhearts.IfyouobeyAllahandHisRasool,Hewillnotdenyyoutherewardofyourdeeds;surelyAllah is Forgiving, Merciful.”14ThetruebelieversarethosewhobelieveinAllahandHisRasool,thenneverdoubt;andmakeJihãd(exert their efforts) with their wealth and their persons in the cause of Allah. Such are the ones who are truthful in their claim to be the believers.15 O Prophet say to those who claim to have believed:“DoyouappriseAllahofyourreligion?Whereas,AllahknowsallthatisintheheavensandtheearthandHehasfullknowledgeofeverything.”16 They thinktheyhaveconferreduponyouafavorbyembracingIslam.Tellthem:“YouhaveconferreduponmenofavorbyacceptingIslam.ItwasAllahWhohasconferredafavoruponyouinguidingyoutothetruefaith;admitthis,ifyouaremenoftruth.17 Surely Allah knows the secrets of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is watching all your actions.”18
