Crossrail 2 factsheet: Victoria station
Crossrail 2 is a proposed new railway line serving London and the South East, linking Surrey to Hertfordshire via Central London destinations. A new Crossrail 2 station is proposed at Euston St. Pancras. The earliest the scheme could be open is by 2030.

Why do we need a Crossrail 2 station here?With the proposed arrival of High Speed 2 at Euston station, as well as the significant development plans identified in the Euston Area Plan, additional public transport capacity would be required to meet these needs. The Crossrail 2 station at this location would serve both Euston and King’s Cross St. Pancras to help reduce crowding on the Victoria and Northern lines.
What are the benefits of Crossrail 2?Crossrail 2 would add capacity to existing rail services and support economic regeneration by providing the infrastructure needed to build new homes and create more jobs across London and beyond.
A Crossrail 2 station at Euston St. Pancras would:
• Improve your journey with up to 30 Crossrail 2 trains per hour to destinations including London, Hertfordshire and Surrey
• Reduce crowding on the busiest Northern line and Victoria line services during peak periods by up to approximately 25 per cent each
• Connect with existing National Rail, and London Underground services
• Provide step-free access from street level to the Crossrail 2 platforms
• Add station capacity allowing up to 14,000 more passengers to use the station in peak hours
• Provide local people with access to more jobs within a 45 minute journey
• Support local businesses and economic growth by enabling more people to get to Euston St. Pancras within a 45 minute journey

Proposed Crossrail 2 stations
The proposal The new Crossrail 2 station would link Euston and King’s Cross St. Pancras underground stations and could include:
• 2x250 metre long platforms. Station platform tunnels around 20 metres below ground level to the top of the tunnel
• A new station entrance and ticket hall onto Grafton Place near Euston station
• A new station entrance and ticket hall into St. Pancras
• A dedicated entrance and link to Thameslink platforms at King’s Cross St. Pancras
To construct Crossrail 2 we would require four new worksites and one area which has already been identified as a worksite for High Speed 2. Sharing of these worksites would be coordinated in the next design stage.
Site A – To the north of Grafton Place, would be used for construction of a new station entrance and box and for some of the station tunnelling works
Site B – Would be used for construction of a station shaft. This site may also be used for some of the station tunnelling works
Site C – Located in land owned by the British Library, would be used for construction of a station shaft
Site D – Located in land owned by British Library and within St Pancras station, would be used for construction of the underground passenger link between Crossrail 2 and St Pancras station
Site E – Would be used for construction of the underground passenger link between Crossrail 2 and Euston Station and includes a worksite in Euston Square Gardens, to be coordinated with High Speed 2. In line with High Speed 2 proposals, the Grade II listed War Memorial, lodge and railings within this site would be protected

Minimising our impactDrawing on Crossrail 1’s experience of building stations, the proposed Crossrail 2 station at Euston St. Pancras is estimated to take five to eight years to complete. Activity on site would fluctuate during this period. Phasing of the construction works would be an important factor to minimise disruption in the local area.
Proposals for the scheme are still at the early stages of design. Feedback from this and future consultations, together with further design and engineering work, will refine the proposals ahead of seeking permission to build the new railway.
All our contractors would have to adhere to a Code of Construction Practice which would be developed with local authorities. This would set out requirements for considerate construction practices that use the latest techniques to reduce noise and disruption both for surface and underground works.
As part of our Environmental Statement, a full evaluation of the potential impacts of construction and operation of the scheme would be documented along with proposed methods to minimise impacts where required. These proposals would then form commitments as part of the application for planning consent.
