INTRODUCTION
WHAT IS CALIBRATION ?
• Calibration is set of operations that establish, under specified conditions, the
relationship between values of quantities indicated by a measuring instrument or
measuring system (Inspection, Measurement and Test Equipment-IMTE) , or values
represented by a material measure or a reference material, and the corresponding
values realized by standards.
• The goal of calibration is to guarantee the accuracy of the measurements which
are done by measuring and monitoring instruments (IMTE) that affect the
comformity of measurements, in accordance with ISO/TS management standards.

ERDEMIR CALIBRATION CENTER
• ERDEMIR Calibration Center (ECC) started its operations in mid’s 1997.
• Primarily, Calibration Center makes periodic calibrations of 6300 IMTE which are in
Erdemir’s calibration inventory,
• ECC has been accredited on November 18, 2013 related TS EN ISO / IEC 17025:
2012 standard.
• All calibrations are traceable to international standards.
• Under ECC, there are five laboratories; these are Electronic, Temperature,
Dimensional, Pressure and Gas laboratories.
• All laboratories are dust, temperature and humidity controlled.
• Air conditioning of laboratories are maintained by separately established computer-
controlled air-conditioning plants.

MISSION OF ECC
To realize periodic traceable calibrations of IMTEs that affect quality in ERDEMIR
in accordance with the Quality Management Systems and if there is no calibration
ability in Erdemir then to have them calibrated other firms.

ECC OPERATIONS
1. ERDEMIR internal calibration services cover ;
By using general calibration procedures and related systems /
calibration work instructions,
• Adding IMTEs into inventory,
• Removing from inventory,
• Programming of calibrations ,
• Re-call for calibration,
• Calibrations of IMTEs,
• According to outcomes of calibration, evaluation of comformity and
certification labels of IMTEs

ECC OPERATIONS ;
ERDEMIR external calibration services cover ;
providing calibration services in charge made, as demand,
to ERDEMIR’s subsidiaries ( ISDEMIR, CELBOR, STEEL SERVICE,
ERENCO),
to ERDEMIR’s suppliers (Companies doing business with Erdemir),
and to third parties.
Organizing calibration services that are available from
outside ERDEMIR .
• 42 units ECC calibrators (for monitoring),
• 57 units IMTEs that there is no calibration ability in ECC
(withdrawal/hardness/impact test machines, radiation
measuring instruments, etc.)

In ERDEMIR,
• 139 units IMTEs that are calibrated or to have these IMTEs calibrated by
Electronic Automation Maintenance teams,
• to have 6 units IMTEs calibrated by Auxiliary Operations and
Environment Management Department
are programmed to be calibrated and tracking of reporting operations.

GENERAL INTRODUCTION
Erdemir Calibration Laboratories consist of five separate
laboratories below,
- Dimensional,
- Electronic,
- Temperature,
- Pressure,
- Gas Detector
and a production department.
All calibration areas are environmental controlled. (temperature, humidity and
particles)
Each calibration area has its specific min-max limitations of temperature and
humidity.
Calibration is not made when these limitations are gone beyond.

PRODUCTION CONTROL CENTER
Registration, acceptance and post-delivery operations of equipments that are brought
to our laboratories for calibration are all carried out in production control center.

-Height gage, Feeler gauge, Steel Rule ,
-Tape Measure, Steel gauge.

* Relative Humidity % 45±25 RH and Temperature 20 ± 1°C .
* Limit value of particles number larger than 5 µm in 1 feet 3 volume is 700.
* Enlightenment values between 500-1000 lux.
