2 INSTALLATION AND CONNECTIONS

UnpackingAfterunpacking, immediatelyreportanydamageto the delivering carrier or dealer. Keep theshippingcartons. For a description and a diagram of accessoryequipmentincludedwiththeX-BAND50series,see‘Suppliedaccessories’ofthismanual.

Selecting a locationSelect a location for the repeater that allowsadequate air circulation, free from extremeheat, cold, or vibrations, and away from TVsets, TV antenna elements, radios and otherelectromagneticsources.

Antenna connectionsFor radio communications, the antenna is ofcriticalimportance, alongwithoutputpowerandsensitivity. Select antenna(s), such as a well-matched 50 Ω antenna, and feedline. 1.5:1 orbetterofVoltageStandingWaveRatio(VSWR)isrecommendedfordesiredband.Ofcourse,thetransmissionlineshouldbeacoaxialcable.

CAUTION:Protectrepeaterfromlightning byusingalightningarrestor. NOTE:Therearemanypublications coveringproperantennasandtheir installation.Checkwithyourlocaldealerfor moreinformationandrecommendations.

GroundingTopreventelectricalshock, televisioninterference(TVI), broadcast interference (BCI) and otherproblems, ground the transceiver through the[GND]terminalontherearpanel.Forbestresults,connectaheavygaugewireorstraptoalongearth-sunkcopperrod.Makethedistancebetweenthe[GND]terminalandgroundasshortaspossible.

WARNING: NEVERconnectthe [GND]terminaltoagasorelectricpipe, sincetheconnectioncouldcausean

explosionorelectricshock.
