• Requires DVM (VMD), BVMS, BVSc degree • Pathology specialist: Self-proclaimed, special
interest, attends courses • Board-eligible: (for American College of
Veterinary Pathologists {ACVP}): Requires at least 3 years full-time training mentored by a board-certified veterinary pathologist
• Board-certified (Diplomate, ACVP): Same as above plus passes special examination
• ACVP has two groups; 1. Anatomic Pathology 2. Clinical Pathology

• ACVP has about 1600 members world-wide • Is also the European CVP (ECVP) - about
150 members and mostly in Europe • Is also the Japanese CVP (JVCP) – almost
exclusively in Japan • Don’t need “certified” training sites for ACVP

training program)
