TheShawneeCommunityCollegeVeteransClubisanorganizationthatprovidesmemberswithmeaningfulinteractionandactivitieswithotherveteranswhohavesimilarpastexperiencesandcurrentlifesituations,duetopriorserviceinthemilitary.
AllveteranstudentsenrolledatShawneeCommunityCollegeareautomaticallyconsideredmembersoftheclub.
However,activeparticipationisencouraged.ThereareseveralbenefitsforcollegeveteranstoactivelyparticipateandattendSCCVeterans’Clubmeetings:
1. Workshops,suchasinformationonthenewG.I.Bill,andguestspeakers,gearedtowardhelpingcollegeveteranstransitionintothecollegeenvironmentmoresmoothly.
2. Helpingveteranstudentsregainacollectivesenseofcamaraderieand“family”throughtheclubmeetingdiscussionsandthevariousclubactivities.
3. Theopportunityforveteranstudentstosharetheirveteranandcurrentlifeexperienceswithotherveterans.

class(es)areapprovedforyourprogramofstudyatyourparentschool.
YouneedaPSLifyouaretakingSCCclasses,butSCCisnotyourparentschool.ThePSLcomes
fromyourparentschool.
YouneedaPSLifyouaretakingclasseselsewhere,butSCCisyourparentschool.ThePSL
comesfromSCC.
TorequestaPSL,youwillneedtoturninacopyoftheclass(es)descriptionfromthecurrent
catalogofthesecondaryschoolandacopyofyourcurrentclassschedule(withcharges)tothe
VeteransServicesOfficeoftheparentschool.

o Youmustbeenrolledinatleast½‐timeduringthesemesterspriortoandfollowing
thebreak.

Amilitarywithdrawal(MW)isissuedwhenaveteranstudentiscalledtoactiveduty.Inorder
toreceivethe“MW”youneedto:

whichismeasuredineligibilityunits.IVGProgrameligibilityunitsarebasedontheenrolledhours
foraparticularterm,notthedollaramountofthebenefitspaid.Chargesfornoncreditcoursesthat
meetthedefinitionoftuitionandmandatoryfeesmaybecoveredbyIVGbenefits.Eligibilityunits
usedforanoncreditcoursearethesameasthoseassessedforacreditcoursehavingthesame
