VET in schools in Queensland

• Qld has more students undertaking VET than any other

state – 94,200 (37% of national total) (12% SATS, 88% other)

• Qld has more than half of all SATs nationally - 11,100

• Most enrolled in 1or 2 quals only - mainly at Cert II level

• Queensland has nearly 3/4s of all school RTOs in Australia

(Source: NCVER)

What to look for in training delivery

Consider:

• What is the intention for undertaking VET?

• Acquisition of QCE points in the context of a genuine pathway

• Schools partnering with other schools, RTOs to achieve qualifications

• Mapping of training pathways to employment

• Labour market data and employment growth trends
