A Word with Readers
We feel immense pleasure to connect with the students, parents, alumni, and industry experts, through this e-newsletter. Verve is symbolic of the endeavors the institute has put in providing a cohesive learning environment for the students. We feel the need to update
and seek involvement of FAMTians and the society with the institute in our efforts. FAMT has been promoting technical education especially among the youth of rural India in accordance with the vision of Late Shri P.P. Chhabria, Founder President. The institute
consistently takes efforts to provide opportunities to the students in fostering their potential to face the challenges of industry. The outreach and extension activities, and
interactions with the prominent academicians and industry experts are arranged with keen planning and coordination of the faculty, students and experts to enrich our students as
per technological trends.
It’s a great privilege for us to interact with the experts from industry and academia. We appreciate and thank each of the experts for their extensive support, involvement and
active participation in these activities. We congratulate the graduating batch of 2016-17 and wish them a bright future. We also congratulate all the faculty and student achievers for the

Late Shri Pralhald P. Chhabria Awards
The Late Shri Pralhad P. Chhabria Awards were instituted by HOPE Foundation & Research Centre- A Project by
Finolex, in association with the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, India Council and Women in
Engineering Affinity Group, IEEE Pune Section.
The purpose of these awards is to instill in young women the confidence that they are equal to, if not better than,
young men and deserve equal opportunity to showcase their talent and abilities.
Award Description:
Award 1 : Best Female Student: (From Final Year of Faculty of Science/Technology/Engineering) which
includes a medal, a citation, and a cash prize of Rs. 1,25,000/- (Rupees One Lakh Twenty Five
Thousand only)
Award 2: Best Women Engineer/Scientist/Technocrat (Working Professional – Early Career Stage) which
includes a medal, a citation and a cash prize of Rs. 1,25,000/- (Rupees One Lakh Twenty Five Thousand
only)
Eligibility for Awards:
1. IEEE Student Member for Award 1 and IEEE Member for Award 2.
2. An IEEE woman in engineering is desirable though not necessary.

On 16 December 2017 at the IEEE INDICON held at IIT Roorkee, this official announcement was made. The evening began with the signing of the Partnership Agreement by Dr. Shivaji Chakravorti,Chairperson IEEE India Council. Prof. Rajesh Ingale, IEEE R10 (Asia Pacific) Students Activities Committee and on behalf of our trust, HOPE Foundation & Research Centre, Ms Amrita Katara, Managing Trustee, were present. Dr Preeti Bajaj and Dr. Rajashree Jain did the honour of announcing the details of the awards.

12 students were placed in Campus Recruitment Drive of CEM Electromech Pvt. Ltd. Pune hosted by T&P
Cell on July 27 for BE Electronics and Electronics & Telecommunication students (2016-17 batches). Mr. Prasad
Kulkarni - Director of CEM and Mr. Rajiv Mhatre, Director CEM Electromech briefed the students on the
occasion.
FAMT students selected in ISHARE Job Junction
32 Mechanical Engineering students of FAMT among 258 students (West Zone) cleared the online test and 13 students were selected during ISHRAE Job Junction 2017 held at LTCOE, Navi Mumbai from 26 to 28 October in Refrigeration and HVAC
companies like Volats Ltd., Fablab Engineering, and Airvison Pvt. Ltd.
To qualify for the ISHRAE Job Junction, out of 3850 registered students, 1050 students cleared the
online test from all over India.
Aptitude and Soft Skills Training Programme was held by T&P Cell for Mechanical, Chemical
and Electrical Engineering students from 15 to 22 July. Dr. Kaushal Prasad, Prof. Kishor Bhosale Head- T&P Cell, Prof. Leslie Fernandis, Prof.

FAMT Nature Club organized Plantation Drive
on 4 July on campus in support of the State Government of Maharashtra’s programme to
plant 50 crore plants in next three years to tackle increasing global warming. Dr. Kaushal Prasad, Principal; Dr S.B. Kulkarni; Prof. U. K. Samant,

IT students during Science Express Climate Action Special Visit
Students of S.E IT visited Science Express Climate Action Special (SECAS) on 14 July at Ratnagiri
Railway Station. This initiative was started in 2007 by Government of India
to spread the awareness on climate change.
Electrical Engineering Student Association celebrated 'Guru Purnima' by felicitating the faculty members and also introduced new EESA members on 14 July.
Interaction with Alumni on Introduction to GRE & MS Abroad was conducted for Electrical Engineering
students by Mr. Sanjay Swami (2016 batch), a recipient of Best Student Award 2017 by Indian Society for
Technical Education (ISTE) on 1 August. Mr. Swami will be pursuing MS in Germany.

Mini Project Exhibition and Competition was held on 14 July by the
department of Electronics and Telecommunication. B.E. students participated

EESA celebrated Rakshabandhan on 5 August with Ratnagiri Police department with a motive to
appreciate them. It was held at City Jail, Police Headquarters and City Police Station.
Rakhis were tied and sweets were distributed to police personnel. Jail inmates were also given sweets
and under-privileged children from surrounding locality received free stationary items from EESA.
Student – Alumni Interactions were held by the department of MCA. Alumnus, Mr. Manoj Kumar former DBA, National Informatics Centre, Pune interacted with MCA students on 07 August about career opportunities in
database domain. Alumnus Mr. Abrar Kazi (Consultant Software, Datamatics Global Services) guided the students regarding career opportunities in Dot net stream on 16 September.

Parents Meet was organized for the parents of S.E. students on 23 September to interact and seek their involvement in educating their wards. Dr. Kaushal Prasad, Mr G. D. Targaonkar and Prof. Kishor Bhosale
addressed the parents and few of the students shared their experiences. It was followed by branch-wise meets with briefing from HoDs. The parents interacted with the class teachers and mentors on departmental initiatives and
their pupils’ academic performance. More than 163 parents attended the meet.

FAMT ISHRAE Students Chapter held K-12 STEM (Science Technology, Engineering Mathematics) in association with ISHRAE Thane Chapter and conducted Drawing Competitions for the students of lower primary at Zilla

Seminar on Cyber Security and Internet of Things was organized by IT department on 02 August for
creating awareness among the students about Microsoft Virtual Academy Certification on Cyber

A three days Workshop on Cyber Security & Internet of Things was organized by IT
Department in association with ATS Learning solutions, Microsoft Authorized Education
partner for IT students in two batches from 08 to 10 September and from 17 to 19 September.
The expert trainer, Mr. Vinod Gupta, IT professional specializing in Information Security
and Cyber Crime Consultancy, supported by Mumbai Police Research & Development,
addressed the real challenges in cyber security in the field of hacking and demonstrated live
defacement of several websites.

A Lecture on Research Methodology was organized on 17 September by the department of Electrical
Engineering. Dr. Vinayak A. Bharadi, Associate Professor and HoD IT Department, discussed the importance of research
methodology, methods of preparation, steps to publish research papers, and ways to present research in paper.
A two days Workshop on Compressed Air Network, Maintenance of Pumps and Compressors was arranged by the department of Mechanical Engineering in association with Finolex Industries Limited, Ratnagiri for B.E
Mechanical students. The sessions were conducted by Mr. Chetan Moghe, Mr. Milind Pandit and Mr. Chandrashekhar Joshi of FIL. A visit to Finolex Industries Limited, Ratnagiri was also arranged. Mr. S. S. Math, Managing Director

Two weeks FDP1 on Foundation Programme in ICT for Education and Two Weeks FDP2 on Pedagogy for Online and Blended Teaching Learning Process were conducted by IIT Bombay under National Mission on Education through ICT, MHRD, New Delhi and held at FAMT Remote Centre from August 3 to October 12 through blended mode. 25 faculty members of FAMT
and 03 faculty members of RMCET participated in these Faculty Development Programmes.
RD&CC organized Saptahaant Shikshak Prashikshan (SSP) on Introduction to Machine Learning in collaboration with
IIT Kharagpur from 16 to 17 December for upgrading knowledge and teaching skills of the faculty members in
the specialized technical and science subjects.
